I have posted before about my amazing experience here with staff and the General manager David. Was really great. There WERE some exceptional staff members here. My husband and I used to frequent this Denny's quite a bit - we would come study or play Mtg here, because the atmosphere is incredibly chill, and being nightowls it was very convenient and peaceful to be able to get both of those things done. We had servers who would always make sure we needed beverages or anything and while we didnt eat every time we visited.. we always got drinks and the longer we would be here about a little over half the time we would order food we would drop a decent amount of money. Being regulars we got to know the staff pretty well and they were all amazing. Including the asst.s and the general manager David. We stopped coming for about 8 months because there was a newer staff member that clearly was not interested in being here. We experienced her disinterest, but still gave her a chance until one night she charged us for water. That was it. We didnt come back for 8 months. We were really sad that most of our favorite people had left & hoped that there would still be people who maintained the same work ethic and above and beyond attitude we had grown accustomed to. There was a new assistant - Natalie - a great person. We had a grievance with service & she took our complaint very seriously & she jumped on correcting that behavior with staff immediately. I was incredibly impressed with how she handled it, the next night we came in she let us know. I more than appreciated the care, professionalism, and urgency that she handled it with. One of the overnight servers: Toodie (Tootie?) Im not sure of the spelling. She is absolutely awful. She was talked to and seemed to improve. I had asked a server to speak with the cook Chandler about a modification for an order because I wanted to make sure it was even a modification that was possible. He was very busy so it took a bit to come back. I had asked the previous waitress before shift change to speak with him. Toodie came back to ask if we needed anything. I was in the middle of reading some things. I matter of factly and politely let her know that I was waiting for Chandler to come back so I could ask him about a modification. And she was like: oh ok. My husband & neice were with me and can attest to the fact that I was in no way rude. She complained to Chandler that I was rude. Which was explained to me. I was completely taken aback. I will not be accused of being a way that I in no way was behaving. I have not yet seen Natalie or David as we usually come in later. Today we came in sometime before 10pm and that waitress was great. Kept checking on us. I asked for a menu but we were not ready to order before she left. Toodie came in. She doesnt care. She does not care unless shes getting a tip. We did not tip the last time because she was so awful and accused me of being rude. Sorry not sorry, I am not tipping for horrible service. So.. our previous waitress left and not one single time did Toodie bother to come back to say anything or offer refills. And at one point there was one table and I didnt see Toodie at all. We were starving. So I asked my husband to get Mcdonalds. We let Chandler who is the cook that we had to get McDonald's because she didnt bother to come back here at all for anything. I absolutely love David as the GM. He's amazing & he has always taken care and gone above and beyond for us. But my family & I will never, ever, ever, ever step foot in this place if Toodie is working. She wants tips but wont work for them. She just expects them and sorry not sorry but I will not tip when Im being blatanly ignored. Also the young man who was serving as the "PIC" needs to have some retraining on what that role means. Ive seen him take care of a handful of tables and then pretty much not do anything else. I was actually shocked to find out that this kid is a PIC. Ive also seen him clean & thats about it. Never checks in, and brought us a single cup of...

Read moreWe waited over an hour before getting food. When we arrived, no one noticed us to seat us. Finally got someone’s attention, but we stood there for a good five minutes. I should note that we only saw one other guest here. Later four people came from the back, so there may have been five guests. I saw six employees. There were three of us.
It took another 20+ minutes before someone took our order, then 35+ minutes for the food to come. Apparently they have a “new cook”. (We were told that when the food finally came and we commented on it — there was zero communication between when we ordered and when the food came, although we saw employees chatting). One would have thought they’d hire a chef who knew how to make eggs and pancakes, but evidently he was still figuring out how to squeeze chickens while we were waiting.
The hash browns were cold. The French toast was under cooked with a strange taste and texture. Leftovers are going in the trash. The waitress clearly knew we were unhappy and gave us a discount, but this was too ridiculous not to say something.
Even when the check came, things were weird. The bill clearly said I needed to total the amount paid. So I wrote in the tip (pulled out my own pen) and added it up. But you go to a counter to pay. I went to the counter, and again, no one was watching and no one was there. I had to wave someone down to pay. They were practically inviting us to walk out without paying!
Hostess scans the bill and asks me to enter the tip in the computer — but I already entered it on the paper. Apparently the paper says that because some of their stores need it in writing, but they do everything electronically. I suggested that in this day and age, it probably wouldn’t be that difficult to have different stores get different printouts based on what they need.
Anyway, this was one of the worst dinner experiences I’ve ever had — perhaps THE worst. I had a bad taste in my mouth from Dennys from years ago, but we’ve been about three times more recently and it has been decent. Well, the bad taste is back stronger than ever. This was...
