First Watch — Restaurant in Schaumburg Township

I’m so glad that FirstWatch opened up a location near my home! The next closest location is 25 minutes away, which I’m fine with, but it’s still nice to be able to drive 5 minutes down the road and get to such a nice breakfast place.

FirstWatch has some of the best breakfast dishes around. One thing I really appreciate is that you can tell each dish has a specific recipe that’s followed. There’s some restaurants I’ve been to where my favorite dish changes from location to location, and certain locations have noticeably worse versions. FirstWatch isn’t like that.

One thing I wish my experience had was shorter wait times. I was standing up front for a while before being given a table. I understand if there’s a rush, but on the day I went, it wasn’t very crowded at all so I’m not sure why I had to wait so long (especially when I could see numerous empty tables were available).

I ordered the Elevated Egg Sandwich and my mother ordered the Floridian French Toast. We also ordered the Morning Meditation Fresh Juice and the Purple Haze. My potatoes were cooked to perfection and my mom’s french toast was also very obviously freshly-made. My Purple Haze drink had lavender (which is why I ordered it), but not enough that it was overpowering, which I really appreciate. A lot of drinks that use lavender go way overboard to the point where you can’t taste anything else, so I’m glad the Purple Haze didn’t do that.

The price was good too. For two people eating full breakfasts, I didn’t feel like we spent a fortune. The quality of the food was worth the price.

Overall, I give this location five stars (despite the initial slow service). I hope this FirstWatch location stays in business for...

Will never dine at another First Watch again. This franchise falsely advertises “two cage-free eggs any style” all over the menu, when what you’ll really get for your scrambled eggs or omelette are egg-beaters. Another menu fallacy the waitress offered up was their “fresh squeezed orange juice” - it’s not fresh squeezed in house, it’s commercial OJ hiding behind more appetizing advertising on the menu.

Back to the eggs, corporate acted like egg beaters goes against their franchise expectations/menu when in reality, it’s just how it is across the nation if you’re choosing scrambled or omelette. It’s how most kitchens that serve eggs cut costs, and sadly First Watch is no exception. My friend in Oro Valley, AZ confirmed after a recent visit they did not receive real scrambled eggs either, also confirmed by kitchen staff.

It’s not appreciated when one thing is advertised and something else is being served. I requested the franchise either please edit the menu to reflect what people will actually be ingesting or please just serve what’s explicitly stated…why add the extra wording that isn’t truthful?

At our family breakfast, sausage was burnt and potatoes were so greasy we couldn’t eat. There was old, dried food overlooked on my mom’s knife. The table wobbled all over which was quite distracting. Jackie’s AMAZING service at the bar was hospitable, friendly, engaging, and expediently attentive. The food—as usual— was absolutely amazing. My fiancé and I have been to First Watch numerous times; and on my first occasion in Schaumburg by myself, I sat at the bar and Jackie waited on me.

Now, me and my coworkers are regulars and we know Jackie by name and she is 150% part of the reason why we keep coming back in addition to the amazing cuisine!

Update: my fellow managers and I keep coming back to First Watch, and Jackie just outdoes herself in customer service and customer service relations every time! She is a superstar. If First Watch were to do commercials or ads, Jackie should be them!

I also order takeout via my First Watch app quite often now at the Naperville and Schaumburg locations. I recommend any interested person in using the app because your orders are processed at lightning speed and your orders are fulfilled expediently. Amazing.
