My husband and son came here this past Sunday for his birthday (8/17) It has been his request for his 13th birthday for the past few months. Football, wings and his first time at hooters, lol. He was amped up for this experience. From the get go of walking in, not being acknowledged or welcomed in, not even with eye contact saying "HI we'll be right with you" As they all saw us standing there for quit some time the disappointment started to begin. Once being seated, my husband went to the washroom to whisper to the server that it was his birthday, he told her in hopes for some sort of special birthday experience, and got nothing. Not even, telling him Happy Birthday throughout this whole experience. Server seemed very inexperienced, which is fine.. we all learn from somewhere.. but not even very knowledgeable on the menu or how to help customers navigate their order. Sauce was asked to be put on the side (BBQ sauce for the chicken sandwich) when chicken sandwich arrived it was tossed in it. Unfortunately my son is picky and didn't want it, yet accepted it. When she was taking the order, server was talking low and mumbling.. she just seemed lost in what was going on, lol. Another runner brought the wrong food order to the table, just dropped it off & said "enjoy" then walked off. Of course he told them it wasn't ours, server asked "who did it, and what does she look like?" lol. seeming annoyed. I have been in the restaurant/bar industry for 20 years. No questions should be asked, take the food, apologize and figure it out. Once finally paying after waiting for a birthday dessert and nothing came as my husband had a camera ready for the girls to come over for him, she dropped bill off, he paid... waited for her to come back as she just walked around as it wasn't that busy, she never did. I understand finding good customer service is tough these days in this new generation of young adults. Yet, maybe in needs to be addressed on the importance of good customer service, a smile goes along way, a thank you goes a long way. Just agreeing with a customer and figuring it out, speaking loud and clear, suggestive selling, 2 minutes 2 bite, review food order back to the customer after you take it from the customer. TV's werent even on for the Bears football game. Along with the fact we are HUGE tippers, 40% usually always cash (cash is still king) as we know it gets divided with other tip outs and well, just cause we've been in this industry forever. Also, we keep in mind that you never know what the server is going through that day. Yet, having a sad face from my son on his birthday and telling his brothers and friends that his lunch date with dad sucked.. felt I should address this and hope they take it as constructive criticism. With my other sons 17th birthday around the corner, they have decided to go elsewhere with a group of 12. He didn't ask for a manager as we just didn't want a situation for his birthday, nor brought back up it was his birthday in front of him as it was just all disappointing and didn't want to make it bigger in front of...
Read moreFirst time ever at this location. And I have to say it was a bad experience. We had reservations so as soon as we got there we got sat right away which was good .. then the waitress took our order for drinks and appetizers.. as soon as we got our drinks she took our order for the food. my friends and husband order wings. I got the burger well done because I'm currently pregnant and didn't want to risk in getting sick for eating it medium well .. as we were waiting for our food the restaurant started getting busy. It was past almost a 1hr for our food we notice people that arrive after us got seated , food was serve to them and they were ready for their bill. And we were still WAITING!!!! according to the waitress the reason behind the wait was because I had as for a WELL DONE burger I didn't know it took a 1hr for a well done burger and if that's the case I don't understand why my friends Nd husband had to wait for their wings and fries. When we finally got our food I notice my burger wasn't even well done , they asked if I wanted it replace but why would I wait 1hr additional for a burger again. They took 12- off bill for the inconvenience but i notice they charged me refills!I don't think that was good customer service as a manager I would have offer free refills and not even charge the burger that wasn't even cooked how it should've been. I think it was a horrible way of handling the situation! Be careful when going here Bcus if something is wrong with your food they won't be able do much for you but to make you...
Read moreAt this giving time they have lost me as a customer. I frequent the Schaumburg location often for lunch (over 4 years) as I work nearby. I am a pescatarian and ALWAYS order their buffalo nachos. Yet instead of chicken I get shrimp. On most recent visit I was charged $3.99 extra. I asked waitress as to why and she stated it was due to my getting shrimp. I tell her I have never gotten charged extra before now. She told me that it was to keep up with inventory and said she would get manager. Manager comes and I tell him the scenario as I stated to waitress AND I even had my card statement up on phone showing regular charge in May and previous months ready to show him. He tells me, "shrimp costs more than chicken" and if I wasn't paying extra for it all this time I was getting a deal and kind of shrugged. After a response like that there was nothing further to say to Joe except that I will never be back again. If that's the way management handles/speaks to customers about issues I can't spend another dime with this establishment! No apology for the confusion or we are under new management. I could've taken that and still patronized but since not I'm done with Hooters.
I get shrimp is pricier than chicken anywhere. Yet $3.99 more on an $8.99 nacho is too much of an up charge. That's like paying for a nacho and a half. I can go to nearby restaurants and get a shrimp meal...
