After revisiting Nathu Sweets this weekend, I am happy to upgrade my previous rating. This place has truly stepped up its game, and I now confidently give it a solid 5 out of 5 for its food.

Choole Bhaturae: The Choole Bhaturae remains a standout dish. It now replicates the authentic flavors you'd find in India, making it the best version available in Atlanta. The bhaturae were wonderfully fluffy, and the chole had just the right balance of spice and tang, offering an experience that transports you straight to the streets of India.

Paneer Makhani: The Paneer Makhani was rich and creamy, with tender paneer pieces that soaked up the flavorful gravy beautifully. It’s a dish that perfectly captures the essence of Indian comfort food, with a taste that mirrors what you’d expect from a top restaurant in India.

Dhokla: The Dhokla was light, airy, and perfectly seasoned. The flavors were spot-on, and it offered an authentic taste that would satisfy even the most discerning palate familiar with Indian cuisine.

Nathu Sweets seems to have ironed out many of the kinks that were present during my initial visit. The food now consistently replicates the authentic flavors from India, offering a high-quality experience that is rare to find in Atlanta.

This restaurant has undoubtedly found its footing, and I am excited to see how they continue to refine and perfect their offerings. I wholeheartedly recommend Nathu Sweets to anyone craving authentic Indian flavors, and I look forward to many more visits in the future.

Previous Review: Nathu Sweets, a new addition to Decatur's culinary landscape, is an offshoot of a beloved establishment in New Delhi, India, famed for its Choole Bhaturae. Eager to taste the culinary magic transplanted thousands of miles away, my dining experience was overall quite satisfying.

The restaurant space is quite expansive, a refreshing change from cramped eateries where you're almost elbow-to-elbow with the next table. However, the ambiance could use a bit more warmth; it felt a little sterile, though this could be attributed to the restaurant still being in its early days.

The staff were friendly, accommodating, and helpful. It was a Friday evening, and surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't crowded. It seems like Nathu Sweets is still a hidden gem that many have yet to discover.

Choole Bhaturae: If I had to rate the Choole Bhaturae alone, I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5. While it doesn't exactly replicate the taste you'd get in India, it's the best version of the dish you can find in Atlanta. The bhaturae were fluffy, and the chole had just the right amount of spice.

Sizzler: Unfortunately, this dish was a miss for us. It lacked the flavor and zest one would expect from a sizzler, and we ultimately couldn't finish it.

While Nathu Sweets still seems to be finding its footing, it holds the promise of offering top-notch Indian cuisine once it irons out a few kinks. The Choole Bhaturae alone make it worth a visit. I'm definitely going to give this place another try in the future, and I wish the Nathu Sweets team all the best as they continue to refine their restaurant experience.

I would recommend this place to anyone craving authentic Indian flavors, but I'd also suggest giving them some time to perfect their offering. All in all, a good start with room for...

UPDATE I am posting an update and changing my review after speaking to the owner. She was very apologetic and very warm. She explained why this all happened. We understand any restauant could have one off day where the demand becomes unprecedented but they didn't want to compromise on the quality which is very appreciative. Most importantly, it's how you turn a bitter experience into a good one, that's what the customer service is all about. She really turned it around. So we finally were able to eat Nathu's Chana bhatura and man oh man it's the BEST I have ever had. It's authentic Punjabi taste that you get to eat in North India. Spices were very good and appropriate as well. Even bhatura's were not like a poori that you find in other restaurants. We really loved it. Also their Paneer was extremely good. Paneer was soft and fresh and gravy was extremely delicious. All in all we really enjoyed it and kudos to the owner for quickly changing our experience and how!! Everyone should must try it. It's what we all were waiting for in Atlanta and finally it has arrived!

So this last Sunday we decided to travel an hour to check out Nathu's and try out their delicacies, especially the Chana bhatura. Being from north India, we were very excited that finally we will be able to have North Indian style chole bhature in Atlanta. So we reached but were told that there's a wait of over an hour. Fair enough. We understand that it was a Sunday and may be lot of guests are coming in. So we decided to kill an hour in the nearby stores. We were with a toddler but somehow was able to kill the time and got back. So finally we entered and was really surprised to see that only half of the restaurant was full . But still we kinda though that may be they are short on staff and hence keeping the capacity inside only to half. Then I got in the line to order and I was curious why it's taking so long for people to order. So after being in the line for about 20-25 mins, my turn came to order and when I told the cashier that we need 3 Chana bhatura, we were told they are out of it since morning. I was like is this some joke? is this real Nathu's? How could you be out of Chana bhatura at 1 pm on a Sunday? Then as a backup I thought let's order Thali since we were really hungry by thime after having waited so much. The last at the cashier said they can't make thali as it's too time consuming. I was like what??? How is Thali a time consuming thing? Are you not serving other main course? I told her why didn't anyone inform us when we had come first that you guys do not have Chana bhatura, Thali and I don't know what else?? She mentioned she had told the guy at the entrance to told all the guests about it but apparently no body told us. We decided to leave and went to a different restaurant where your time is valuable. We wasted our entire Sunday on this. Not sure where the 5 star reviews are coming in when their main food items are not even available!!....

UPDATE: after posting the one star review below that I had put up yesterday….the owner reached out and was super warm and friendly. She instigated the issue and rectified it. She invited us to come visit and Omg We ate so much. The sizzlers were delicious. We completely finished one and ordered another one! No restaurant in Decatur serves indo-Chinese sizzlers so it’s definitely a must try. What I really appreciate about the whole scenario is the way the business owner cared to reach out and make it right. I absolutely love how the lady at the front (yes she was warm and welcoming!) and the owner took my review as a constructive feedback and did everything to make it better and more! I did also learn that sometimes new places do need a little bit of time to adjust and understand the traffic at different times. So if they make you wait next time-just know that food is definitely worth the wait! Thank you Alka-you are probably going to see us every week there! 💚

Came here second time in 2 days. First time just had chai and wada pav (extremely spicy). Did ask them to make it low on spice-yet the paav was flooded with chutney. Despite of empty restaurant -the lady at the front was not at all friendly. Noticed her with me and another client-she was either busy addressing a friend, co-worker or vendor over the phone. When a client is standing customer needs to be the priority. We don’t need to hear irrelevant conversations.I didn’t get a glass of water until I asked for it after I was done eating my extremely spicy wada pav. Today I went back for dinner with family. The same lady tells us at 9pm that there is a 40-50 minute wait. They close at 9:30. Clearly she’s an employee cuz there is no way an owner would let the customers walk out like that. Also same stale pale attitude-we are still waiting to ask her question but she just walks inside the kitchen in middle of us talking to her. I am not trying to get anyone in trouble-but not a fan of bad attitude. Either she hates the job, is underpaid or has way too many responsibilities assigned. Living in the Decatur area for several years we have seen many restaurants open and close-and coming from a restaurant family background there’s one thing I can say with confidence-the restaurants that continue to thrive in Decatur area are the ones with exceptional customer service and consistent taste in food. If the owner is serious about the business they need to reconsider their team and make sure they are paid well and deserve the job and are good at it-how are we suppose to review a restaurant that doesn’t even serve us the food due to a long wait time. There are several restaurants in the area that we can go to so if they want to stay competitive they need to have more efficient people working with good attitude...
