I don't usually write many reviews but I was very disappointed in my first and only time to Tavern Grille. It was a halfway meeting spot for us (west side) and relatives from Mesa. I had done a little research when trying to find a place to meet and although there were some negative comments on this place, it appeared overall to be well liked. I was perhaps persuaded to give it a try since the owners had gone to NAU and being an alumni myself, I thought why not?....now I know why not. We may have just caught the waitress on a bad night but based on food and service, it is not a place we will revisit. Service started out ok. Waitress brought out water right away, took drink orders which we received promptly and she took our food order in a timely fashion. Then things started to go downhill. We were not in a hurry so at first didn't notice how much time had passed since we had ordered food. Just as we started to wonder out loud if food was in our future, some gentleman (not sure if he was the manager or not since he didn't introduce himself) stopped by our table and apologized for the delay. He said the ticket with our order didn't go through (to the kitchen as I understood it). A short time later the food finally did arrive. Again, we were not in a hurry and understand these things happen. Had it ended there I would probably not be writing this review. However, once the food showed up, with no apology or acknowledgement of the delay from our waitress, she seemed to think her job was done. She did not return to check if we wanted another round of drinks or needed anything else. My husband finally decided to go to the bar to order drinks when he was finally able to make eye contact with our waitress and summon her over to our table. Again no apology, even though three of the four of us had had empty glasses for some time. I guess she figured we still had water...when she did bring our drinks, she did ask if we needed anything else and shortly thereafter deposited the check on the table with out a word. As for the food, it wasn't great but not horrible. Typical bar food. The skinny fries were very good but my Mushroom and Swiss burger was bland with VERY little Swiss. My husband ordered a patty melt and was disappointed. He said it tasted more like a Big Mac than a Patty melt. Two stars for the french fries and the fact it was quiet enough that we could carry on conversations without having to yell. I hate when bars have music so loud you can't hear the person...
Read moreTavern Grille in Scottsdale, AZ has become one of my go-to spots to eat, drink, watch sports and play Golden Tee golf. I think their food is a lot better than some other sports bars nearby, and there’s always something on the menu that you won’t be disappointed in. I’m a big fan of the burgers, especially the one that comes with deep fried jalapeños…those should honestly be its own shareable snack on the menu, they are fantastic! I’ve always had a friendly experience with their staff, Jillian is usually the one who takes care of us and always goes above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and having a fun time at Tavern. She even knows what I like to drink and brings it to me when I walk in, since I’m usually hanging out over by the Golden Tee machine - now that’s 5-star service! Tavern’s GT cabinet recently changed from PGA to LIVE which is a bit of a downgrade for us consistent online players, however it’s always working well and thankfully connected to the online servers which is an added bonus. The only thing about Tavern I’d like to see improved is the use of their OTB TV screens in the corner by the GT machine…apparently they recently lost their rights and partnerships with Off Track Betting however they’ve got about 8 of them in that corner that remain turned off at all times, and the staff says they don’t have control on those ones but it really would be great if they could find a way to hijack them with a Roku or Firestick plug in and throw on some football games, I feel like it’s a missed opportunity for a popular sports bar to have a handful of TVs turned off when there are dozens of games being played. Outside of that, Tavern is my spot and I’ll continue spending my money here, since I know it’s a guarantee to have great daily drink specials, food, service, and of course a couple rounds of golf...
Read moreOn the outside of the Tavern looks very inviting and welcoming to entre. It's Saturday night and it's the first time going here. We enter the tavern sit down and noticed its approximately 20 guy's and 2 girls sitting around the over sized sit up bar. The beers were good and cold. We had a basket of onion rings (because we refused to pay a dollar a wing for chicken wings). They were good but nothing to write home about. 11:30 pm rolls around and you can tell the bar is closing as the staff is cleaning up and prepping for the next day. Before leaving I went to use the washroom and my eyes literally started to water. I think either the cleaner used a full bottle of bleach in the mop bucket or mixed bleach with ammonia, either way I brought it to the attention of the manager and was immediately blown off with out him even willing to inspect the washroom or give any concern to his customer,
Real bad customer service. Don't blow off customers with legitimate health and...
