I went to this place to see The Wizard of Oz and at first I had my doubts upon arriving. However, shortly after the beginning of the performance I was drawn into the world of Oz by the sheer talent of the cast.
The theater itself is barebones. Seating only about 60 people, it is so small that there are lines on the floor indicating where to put your feet to avoid being stepped on by the performers. So that means we can forget about live musical performances.
Despite that I apparently had a huge grin from ear to ear according to some of the performers. I was into it.
My theory is that since Don Bluth is the owner and that he is a legitimate entertainment industry legend, he knows a thing or two in what makes a great performance and acts accordingly in the people he hires to work at this place.
Since the venue is so small, every seat is literally a front seat.
Do yourself a favor and try taking in a performance at this little gem of a theater. I sure will...
Read moreThis theatre is the best kept secret in the valley. I have seen 4 performances in the past 2 years and they have all been top notch. The actors are fantastic, many with decades of experience and industry accolades to their names. The theatre is intimate, maybe 60 seats. The furthest row from tbe peninsula stage is row 3, and seating is tiered so every seat is prime. Don Bluth, who owns and runs the place charms the crowd before the shows, and frozen peppermint patties are served at intermission because those are his favorite candies. Everything about the productions is professional--acting, lighting, sound, set design--and the people who work there are friendly and eager to share their knowledge about Don, the theatre, the actors, etc. I highly recommend...
Read moreWe saw Drinking Habits 2 and had a great time. The scenes with Lauren Tye (Sister Philamena) and Priscella Bertling (Sister Augusta) were hilarious. The rest of the cast were awesome also. Mother Superior with those glasses, George with the wine, Paul with "Focus", Father Chenille with flowers, Sally with all that food, and Kate "staying out of sight". Besides the great performances, the venue has become one of our favorite places. The only way to have a bad seat is not buy a ticket. We will keep going to their performances for as long as they will be there. Thank you, Mr. Bluth, for an...
