The shop is all Chinese, and I feel that Sushi is also Chinese style sushi. The food is rough, which has a thin layer of fish covered with lots of rice. Although it is all-you-can-eat sushi, it is really all-you-can-eat rice. A $18 lunch is equivalent to having two large bowls of white rice and a few thin slices of fish. I went to dinner with my Asian friends. The waitress and manager are all Chinese. My Asian friends are not Chinese and are not familiar with Mandarin. The manager refused to speak English to us. He said that he can’t speak English, and as long as we have Asian faces, we should speak Mandarin. The service attitude of the waitress was poor, and they spoke loudly as if they were yelling at people, also trying to make an Asian problem with China. We ordered the same amount of sushi as we would eat at other places at the beginning, but we did not expect this restaurant to use so much rice to wrap a piece of sushi. In the end, we couldn't finish so much rice, so we had to peel it off and set it aside. After the waitress came over and explained that this was a waste, we had to finish eating all of the rice. But since then, the waitress repeatedly said loudly blamed our faults. Even across another table, they still raised the volume that sounded like yelled at us, and we had no appetite to finish our lunch. Finally, the manager came back and repeated the yelling until the customers at the next table rejected the situation. Because the restaurant harassed us, we couldn't finish the lunch. Trying to be nice, we still paid the bill and left the restaurant. I'd like to write down this terrible experience for future guests as...
Read moreThe concept here is great, the execution not. Unfortunately, the description in Maps was wrong and had listed this as a conveyor belt restaurant (which my kids love!). We were slightly disappointed when we arrived, but didn't blame the restaurant.
Our server was very rushed and did not explain the concept to us at all. Nearly everything here is included in a flat rate. For dinner, adults were around $20 and kids 3-12 were $12, under 3 free. We were trying to figure out prices and were utterly confused. We finally just ordered and figured it out as we went. The food is all made to order and served in small portions to prevent waste.
Our initial order came out quickly and was good, but small, so we wanted more. It took a LONG time for our server to return and when we asked for more, we got an exasperated sigh. Someone else delivered that order and then we continued to wait for about 40 minutes to order dessert. We finally flagged down a different server and asked her to get it for us, and she acted annoyed as well. It took another 20 minutes for the check, we were there with 3 antsy kids on a school night for almost 2 hours. Unacceptable.
That said, all you can eat is great when you're expecting it. The food quality was good, not the best ever, but a great value if you like to try a variety of things without breaking the bank. If the service was good, this would...
Read moreFor the price this place cannot be beat! We love Akita and have been coming here for years for lunch and dinner. So long that I think the first time I went was during college in the 2010s and I’m now 32 with my own baby and it’s still a great place to eat! Portion sizes are good, the menu is easy to order from and everything I have ever ordered is tasty. The service is great and the atmosphere is quiet and great for conversations and they don’t mind if you bring small children. We have called ahead and had family birthday dinners here and they didn’t mind scooting tables together for a larger group. If you need to change a baby do it in your car though they do not have a change table that’s the only downside if you have small children. Their restrooms are nice and very clean though.
I would recommend Akita to anyone looking for an all you can eat sushi spot, or just a good semi-casual lunch or dinner. If you’re a sashimi person go for dinner, sashimi is not on the lunch menu. If you have friends who “don’t do raw fish” there are plenty of cooked rolls and noodle and rice dishes for...
