Upon my week stay in Monterey last week i had a craving for fish tacos but i didn't want to travel too far as it was getting late and i was tired. I was just looking for a casual place to get some good, cheap fish tacos. I came across this place on google maps and was happy to see great reviews of this place. However, it stated that the restaurant was closed on Tuesdays, and it just happened to be a Tuesday. But i know how sometimes a restaurants information and hours aren't updated or have the wrong information. So i thought I'd give them a call. Sure enough, they were open and did have fish tacos. I asked them what time they would be closing and they said 8-8:30. I was on the beach at this time and didn't realize how far away i was parked and still had to go back to the room to rinse off. I got to the restaurant a little after 8. There was a very nice Mexican man sitting there. He asked if we (me and my friend) had called about fish tacos. We said yes. He stated that his boss had called him and told him to stay open longer because someone had called about fish tacos. The man was very nice and happy and chatted with my friend about the food for a minute. I thought it was very nice for the boss to keep the restaurant open for a random call about fish tacos. The restaurant was very clean and cute. We got the food to go and while i got fish tacos my friend ordered a "torta pambazo." The food was very delicious and we were both very happy with the fast, friendly service. I very much enjoyed this place and got great food and great service for a great price. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some good, casual...
Read moreIf you're looking for some decent Mexican food for a decent price, this is a decent option. It's definitely not the best Mexican place around, but it's also far from the worst. Same goes for price: affordable but not dirt cheap. The food here isn't anything to write home about; that is, the meat isn't the greatest quality and the portion sizes are a little small. However, the flavor is good. The beans are hit or miss since they sometimes come out a little cold. Also, if it gets busy (not very common), it's a good idea to know how to speak a little Spanish. The servers are pretty nice but they sometimes seem like they're rushing the customer a little. Atmosphere is great; no complaints here. I order a different thing every time I come here (four times so far) since none of the individual items I've tried have stood out to me as amazing. Coming from San Diego, I know what to look for when ordering top-notch Mexican. This place hasn't hit that...
Read moreTo start this review I want to startboff by saying that the guy held the store open a few more minutes for me and my gf. She had called earlier to see when they would close we went about two hours later. Then the guy said "were you the ones who called earlier? "I said yes we did he then said "the owner had told me about someone who had called about fish tacos and asked Me to keep it open a bit longer" right then and there you can see the dedication the passion in what they do there they respect the customers to the fullest. Now to the actual food. This place was delicious. My gf had the fish tacos I had the torta pambazo. Was very spicy but delicious. I also had two fish tacos from my gf plate and they were definitely one of the best fish tacos I had. The guy who was there was very friendly we talked a bit was very nice. Great place to come eat or take out....
