This Burgermaster location would get 5 stars from me if not for a couple of glaring flaws.
TL/DR: Grill & fryer oil consistently too cold: food comes out greasy. Also, delivery sent in individual thin bags, food doesn't arrive hot even with Priority delivery.
ORDER HISTORY: my husband & I have ordered late-evening delivery from this restaurant several times over the last few months.
SERVICE: 4-Star. The food is made quickly, clearly fresh, & available for pickup on time. My one complaint here is that the food is sent out in single, very thin paper bags, so arrives just warm, if that, even with priority delivery. If they double-bagged, either individually or in one large bag like McDonald's does, for example, the food would generally arrive hot, and that matters with fast food.
FOOD: 3-Star At Best. THE GOOD: portions are generous, food is fresh, individual order details like "no lettuce" are consistently followed. They have a couple of interesting menu items like a crab salad sandwich and a nice turkey sandwich. They allow for a fair amount of customization. Their "burger sauce" resembles a nice Thousand Island recipe.
I had the fish burger last night, and I was very pleased with the quality of the fish: it's large pieces of whole white fish, not chopped up & reformed into patties; not over-breaded, very tasty.
THE BAD: Here's where the whole thing falls apart. Simply put, the problem appears to be the cooking heat level.
A couple of other small flaws first: their tartar sauce is a flat failure. Bland mayo with a few flecks of pickle: really tasteless & disappointing. And the buns for the burgers are under-baked, a little flabby, and not well-toasted on the grill like they should be, which means they squish down unpleasantly instead of holding the ingredients nicely.
THE BIG PROBLEM: Both husband & I love grilled sourdough burgers and sandwiches, also onion rings, both of which are on this menu, yay! Since their hamburger buns are OK at best, not good, that makes the sourdough option even more desirable.
HOWEVER. I've ordered the turkey sandwich at least three times, which comes on grilled sourdough, no option for toasted or plain. Last night my husband ordered the popular Burgermelt, on grilled sourdough. And we've ordered the onion rings at least 3 times, hoping for improvement.
SADLY: all the grilled sourdough sandwiches have been overly greasy, to the point of unpleasantness. So have the onion rings. Sandwiches come wrapped in the type of paper that does not absorb grease, so no help there.
I finally realized that the restaurant is cooking with both the cooking surface, presumably a flat-top grill, and also the oil in the deep fryer, both at a significantly lower temperature than they should be! 😭
So, instead of searing and caramelizing properly, the sourdough soaks up the grease from the grill. The same problem consistently happens with the onion rings from the deep fryer. Even the shoestring-style fries are more greasy than they should be, for the same reason.
LAST WORD: Burgermaster folks, PLEASE turn up the heat! You're killing some of the really good food you're putting out. And please start double-bagging while you're at it. Thank you...
Read moreMy experience at burger master was as bad as it gets!! I parked my car in the car hop service bay. A server came to take my order. When I tried to pay the server with cash I was refused service because 2 months ago burger master stopped taking cash.
Burger master even refused to swipe my American express pre paid card.
The server told me they turn away tons of customers who only have cash to pay.
Cash in America is a legal tender for all debts public and private.
Unfortunately burger master was sold in April 2022 to a new owner because the old owners got sick unfortunately.
This new owner is discriminating against lower income seattlelites who can't get credit cards or afford checking account fees.
Burgermaster is cheap fast food and should accept cash.
I had to go to the mcdonalds drive through because mcdonlads takes cash.
Burgermaster is barking up the wrong tree be treating customers as such!!
I texted burger Masters customer comment phone number and got a we don't care about you response!!
Burger master is trying to only cater to high paid tech workers in seattle who have multiple credit cards!!
Shame on burger Masters new owner!!
This review was posted by me in October 2022. It's now October 2023.
Since my bad experience at Burgermaster Aurora in October 2022 I have never returned to Burgermaster and don't plan to either!!
In a positive note there are plenty of other fast food burger places to patronize around seattle who are happy for your business and will gladly accept your cash.
The places I patronize for fast food hamburgers are five guys northgate, burger king 15th Ave north seattle, wendys on lake city way, mcodnalds on northgate way.
According to the reviews I read on Google and yelp I see there are alot of unhappy customers of Burgermaster aurora.
Alex the owner of Burgermaster must be a jerk!!
Im hoping that enough people will vote with thier dollar and put Burgermaster aurora out of bussiness!!
I also forgot to add that burger king now serves hormone free grass fed beef for their whoppers.
At Burgermaster Aurora the customer isn't always right which is a...
Read moreFor the most part the food itself has been mostly worth what I pay other than having to wait a really long time for your order (which is understandable since everyone is short staffed). Tonight however I am appalled at being charged $14 plus tax for the fish combo that although comes with a bunch of fries , two tarters and what looks like soggy coleslaw....😒 the fish fillets themselves are tiny over breaded and over fried. Definitely not worth $14+tax. Thinking that perhaps there was a mistake and there may have been one filet missing or somehow there was just unusually small pieces I called hoping for resolution. The employee who answered ended up asking a manager when I complained about the fact that they were extremely tiny pieces to be charged $14 plus tax for especially as a single mother living in Seattle..... Unfortunately since I wasn't put on hold I could hear the employee ask her manager who very casually said that they're weighed out to Total 8 oz in total. Not only did they not seem at all bothered by my inquiry or being upset but they didn't offer anything to make it better. I bought the fish fillet meal and then two kids meals for my toddlers paid almost $50 and they didn't seem to care at all. I could have gone to Ivar's gotten way better quality fish and decent chicken strips for that price. If I decide to go back to burgermaster in the future I will never order the fish combo again and I advise all of you out there to steer clear of that combo. It is not worth it. Burgermaster has great burgers and shakes and good fries but for the first time I am appalled at not only the quality and serving size for the cost of the fish combo but the lack of customer service for a loyal customer of over...
