These days I've been visiting my family, a reunion filled with hugs and laughter that filled my soul, but also with a deep nostalgia for my childhood in Mexico. The aroma of my grandmother's cooking, the songs we sang together, everything was present in my memory, yet so far away. I felt a longing that seemed impossible to fill.
Then, the afternoon arrived when I discovered California burritos. It wasn't an intentional search, more like a fortunate coincidence, a sign from fate perhaps. As I entered, the familiar aroma of spices enveloped me, like a warm embrace that transported me to my childhood. The atmosphere was clean and welcoming, the music sounded like I was in a small family restaurant in some Mexican town.
And then, the burrito. It wasn't just food, it was a complete sensory experience. The soft touch of the tortilla, the juicy flavor of the meat, the freshness of the ingredients... every bite was a journey to the past, a vivid memory of the flavors of my childhood. It was as if my grandmother herself was preparing that burrito, with her love and dedication.
But it wasn't just the taste that moved me. The kindness of the staff, their patience in serving me, made me feel at home, like I was surrounded by my family. Their warm smiles, their dedicated attention, reminded me of the human warmth I missed so much.
That California burrito, in its simplicity, became a symbol of my connection to Mexico, a bridge that connected my present with my past. It was much more than delicious food; it was a return home, a comforting hug that filled the void I felt in my heart. It was a reminder that, even though I'm physically far away, the flavors, aromas, and affection of my homeland will always be present...
Read moreI’m so happy to see a Mexican place with such authentic food and amazing staff. The menu options alone showcase that they truly understand all the ins and outs of Mexican food and then the portion to price ratio makes it so worth it!! We got the birria plate and a chile relleno burrito with agua de horchata and piña. Burritos- the chicken is well done with the perfect crust and the rice and beans are yummy good rations all around. The birria is great too it’s not too greasy and one again rice and beans SLAP. The horchata tastes pretty good compared to other places that use a packet and it tastes artificial same for pina. Lastly I love the condiments bar!! Omg and the corn tortillas...
Read moreIve got a joke to tell everyone.. a hungry couple enters Burritos California and orders deep fried ice cream..... They were served vanilla ice cream that has been rolled in corn flakes. Yes!! Corn flakes!! After which completely covered with whip cream ,sprinkles and bit of chocolate drizzle in order to camouflage the ice cream which wasn't anywhere near a fryer. Very deceptive.. using cereal so the customer would get the crunch ,without them having to actually prepare it correctly. Top it off,we paid nearly $10 for this garbage.. I've already told all my friends to avoid it. A restaurant lazy enuf to go to that much effort to deceive people, won't get...
