Cafe Calaveras — Restaurant in Seattle

I arrived and ordered at 7:40 and my coffee or food was not ready until 8:15 Id normally justify a wait but there were only 2 customers, and one of them was me. There was only one person working, taking orders, making the orders, and the drinks. A 3rd customer tried to order but they couldn't because she was overwhelmed trying to get everything completed. I left my place early so I could sit down and at least drink the coffee but I couldn't since it took so long for them to get my things. Also the music was blasting when I got there. There's definitely a lot that can be worked on. The food and drinks are delicious but the service needs work on. I also tried to call the order in at 7:15 or order online but there aren't options to do that since the number isn't listed and you cant order ahead.The pictures I posted are from a previous review when I went in...

The place is super cute and well designed. The music and noise levels were perfect. They had lots of vegetarian and vegan food options which is amazing. Only reason I’m rating it so low is that the coffee was kind of gross. I’ve had horchata lattes many times before and this one tasted watery and artificial. I got the default milk so idk what happened. Also it took a really long time for everything to be ready which is fine cause we weren’t in a rush but it wasn’t like that busy. Also just a preference thing but it would be nice if they had real plates and cups for dine in. To eat my concha and taco in a paper bag just is messy. This place feels very unique and authentic! I am usually wary of places that seem instagramable, but this place really pulls off a refined look without feeling overdone or cheap.

The drinks were really unique, tasty, and not too sweet, which I love! Ive only had their breakfast tacos but I love that they have a good selection of food.

Im really glad the area has a genuine spot! The owner is always in there too which is a great contrast to some of the local spots owned by an investor. It gives that mom and pop feel with the down to Earth owner and staff! Highly recommend a visit!
