I met my niece for lunch today. We had tried Joyale on another occasion, but it was closed. We arrived a few minutes before the opening at 11, but it was absolutely dark. We almost left when a woman came off the elevator and told us she would be right back. We were a bit skeptical that even if we got in, the restaurant couldn't possibly be ready to serve.
No problem ... within minutes after we sat down, the tea was on the table, and a few moments later, carts with fresh dim sum were on offer! The kitchen staff was clearly on premises well before the dining room opened!
We chose an assortment from the cart and off the menu, and it was all fresh and absolutely delicious. We consider ourselves fairly astute consumers of dim sum - my mother was from Guangzhou and most recently Honolulu + we travel through Asia extensively. The joong was really well done; the texture of the rice was so soft ... the congee was very light and flavorful - the consistency was perfect! I ordered youtiao for the congee, and it was crispy but not greasy ... I must mention the dan tart ... (egg custard) ... best served warm ... oh my, so delicious ... the shell was flakey and the custard so smooth and silky -
If u can, invite a big group LOL ... lot of different options to share + it's cheaper after you split the bill...
Read moreIf you're looking for Chinese food in the International district and you have a larger party, Joyale is a really convenient spot. It's a pretty large restaurant that can easily accommodate large parties and also has a parking garage that offers free 1 hour parking, which is incredibly useful considering how hard it is to find street parking sometimes in the ID. However, their food is unfortunately a step down from other restaurants in the area such as Honey Court, Jade Garden, Harbor City, and more.
We ordered a ton of dishes but none were really that great besides the Mongolian beef. Don't get me wrong, the food here was okay, but I definitely prefer Honey Court. If you're a small party and are looking for good Chinese food, I would recommend to check elsewhere. This place is more of a larger party alternative.
Service was fast and hardworking to accommodate to multiple large parties in the restaurant. They did however forget one of my side orders, and didn't bring out one of our dishes until we were basically all done with our food. It's a big restaurant and so they seem to forget about some of the smaller details.
Overall, Joyale is a good place for large parties but that's really the only time I'd recommend...

She Interrupted Me By Saying, “K!” And Then Walks Away From Me! It’s Like Getting SLAMMED At The Front Door Of Your House! She Didn’t Even Listen To Me Of What I Have To Say, What Rude Server Would Ever Possibly Do Something That Is Not Fully Assertive And Not Well-Mannered When Taking Care Customers? The Stuff Shrimp Balls Were Good & The Sesame Balls With Taro Filling Is Good. I’ll See How My 3rd Visit Goes If They Failed...
