My two friends and I have been customers here since our teen years, so it’s been almost 10yrs now. This time around, the waitress was instantly rude to us. She only gave us a couple minutes to look over the menu the first time. When asked what the specials were, she said it so fast we asked her to repeat it once more… She said it as fast once again therefore we couldn’t hear what the egg specials were unfortunately
When taking our orders, you could tell she was trying to rush us through telling her our orders and wasn’t friendly about it at all. Her demeanor made us feel bad for requesting other things we’ve forgotten to mention. My friends and I were put off incredibly after she walked away
We continued to feel rushed as she barely stopped by at our table. She’d come to our table just to take a look for 1sec, and walked away immediately. This forced us to very quickly squeeze in our requests because she was already walking away at that point: more utensils (our table only came with two pairs when there was 3 of us), request jam (our table didn’t have any), and sharing plates.
To top it all off, when we were done eating, our waitress then came over and rudely snatched our utensils and plates together in order to bus our table. We even stacked majority of our plates just to help out, but even then she was rude to us. It caught us so off guard and it was honestly so upsetting. We’re used to having the waitresses that worked here for the past however-many-years who were always so kind and attentive. This time around was such a disappoint and had us leaving the restaurant asking, "What was that??" Though, I do have the say the man who came to our table to hand us our to-go order seemed super kind as he gave us a warm smile. We were appreciative of that after all the...
Read moreGeraldine's is a great spot for good breakfast/brunch food on the Rainier Ave! THERE WILL BE A LINE, and they don't do reservations, so either go early or be ready for a wait! Your whole party needs to be present before they seat you though!
I came here with a friend on a Saturday morning at 10:30am. We probably got seated before 11am. We wanted to share one sweet and one savory plate so we went for pancakes and an omelette. Geraldine's pancake option is their pancake of the day; the waiter will let you know what it is! We got their honey orange pancakes. There are 3 pancakes on a full order, and it definitely tasted like honey and orange! They infused orange zest in their butter that comes with the pancake which I was impressed with. Their pancakes are are very fluffy!
We went for their avocado pepper jack omelette - it looked perfect and had a generous topping of sour cream (yes please!). There was pico on the side and also hashbrowns and two half slices of toast. We went for sourdough. Their toast was a little too toasty/crunchy on the crust for me. Flavor was good and there was also a generous amount of avocado in their omelette, which I found to be pleasantly surprising as avos can be expensive and I tend to find restaurants being pretty sparing with their avocado in dishes at time.
Overall a good and delicious experience! I also liked how they can do 1/2 portions for their french toast and pancakes so if you're not SUPER hungry, that is a good...
Read moreGeraldine's Counter Restaurant has a good breakfast is hard to find in Seattle and it seems like all the good ones have lines out the door. This is the case with Geraldine's Counter. Showed up on a Sat at almost noon and the wait was still close to a half an hour.
I split two dishes, the Peach French Toast special and the Biscuits & Gravy. The Peach French Toast was unlike any French Toast I've ever had. It was very lightly battered and with a crispy and crunchy texture. I prefer an eggy and custardy French toast, but this was quite tasty. More toast than French toast though. Biscuits & Gravy was basic, but also quite good. The food didn't blow me away, but it was a standard breakfast done right.
Pricing wise it's a bit expensive for what you get. For $12 you would expect the French Toast to include some potatoes or something. Nope, just 3 half slices of bread and a four canned peaches. But the line is out the door, so obviously they're doing something right. Why can't you get a decent breakfast in Seattle that doesn't cost $15 per person?
Geraldine's Counter Restaurant is like a old school diner and is clean and bright. This place is packed, so the service is quick and efficient. Really liked the artwork where they've taken old movie posters and transformed them into breakfast posters. I'd like to give them 3.5 stars, so rounding up to 4....
