Great Chinese / Taiwanese Dishes; Not-So-Good Malaysian Food
The traditional Chinese staples are spot-on. Their noodles are extremely fresh tasting and the meats have always been of high quality. It's a bit more expensive than some of the cheaper places in Chinatown, but I'd say it's much cleaner and nicer than the bargain restaurants.
Hot Pot is ~$18/person (as of 02/2016), and is a great unlimited meat option if you're hungry. It includes beef, pork, and chicken, but -- I'd skip the poultry (too dry) and stick with your four-legged animals.
The fried pork and vegetable buns, coupled with their spicy dipping sauce, is extremely delicious. This is one of the best items on the menu. All of the dumplings are amazing, save for the xiao long bao, which I found to be too thick (spoiled by Din Tai Fung).
The spicy wontons (again, when paired with their awesome dipping sauce) are really great and a good deal. The prawns are perfectly steamed and tasty. The dumpling noodle soup dishes are great if you're feeling under the weather (extra dipping sauce for seasoning, please!).
Meals come with tea and water. The staff is extremely friendly and pleasant. We're regulars here and they're always very kind and happy to see you.
The only bad dishes we've ever had were the Malaysian / Singaporean curry-based dishes. The curries all used water instead of coconut milk and were extremely bland and sad. That was a shock, frankly; just stick to the Chinese dishes and you won't be disappointed.
Definitely check this place out if you're looking for good Chinese food in a...
Read moreWe went there last weekend(10/15), and we found out their hot pot is good, also the service was good too, so we went there again on Wednesday last week(10/18). The chef was really nice, he came out chat with us and let us tried their Braised Rice with Pork and Soy Sauce, the food was not bad. But I have to say we really disappointed with the service, we ordered 3 hot pot and some side dishes. only my son’s didn’t over$20, we supposed to get 2rice, but she keep saying we only can get one rice. We ordered some to go and we have some left over need to bring home, but she changed us $1 for a small to go bag(we didn’t get charge on Sunday night, which is 2days ago). Not just that, our receipt says the total was around hundred with tax, but when she bring the iPad for us to check out, the total became around $120, we asked her what’s going on with the total , then she charged total back to the correct amount. We left over20% tip(we didn’t tip the to go order). The reason why I tipped that much is because the chef was really nice. We will go there again, but we definitely don’t want go there when she is...
Read moreI really want to give this place high rating because we used to love coming here for AYCE hotpot but their sanitary quality has gone downhill in the recent years.
I know this is in the middle of ID and I know it's an old establishment but no matter how good the food is, it's hard to swallow when you're dining next to live cockroaches.
A big one (dad) came out from beneath the hotpot burner while eating so I had to kill it with the napkin. Mom was crawling on wall looking for her husband and the final straw was the baby that came out of nowhere from my wife's plate.
The owner/waiter was so nice and friendly, we didn't make it into a big deal and paid for the full meal but we ended up leaving in the middle of our meal since my wife jumped out of her seat after seeing the little orphan.
Also they used to provide chopped garlic and cilantro along with dipping sauce for hotpot but now there's a sauce station where you get your own sauce which didn't seem too sanitary.
So tempted to come back and try again if I don't have to share the space with the...
