Laughs is the best comedy club in Seattle. Over 2 decades I've been to them all, clubs that no longer exist, many times over. I love comedy, full stop. Laughs is best overall because they have a better seating layout with clear views to the stage. Hardly a bad seat in the house and unlike the competition, you are not forced to sit in your neighbors lap because management is squeezing customers in like cattle.
Laughs is also the best club because the sound is full and clear, regardless of where you sit. The stage lighting is well done and small tea lights are on every table so you can read the menu and it feels like a better date night too. Laughs is the most professionally run club and most consistently fun to visit.
The service is excellent and we'll trained to work around the more challenging environment of a comedy club. There is a full bar and the prices are fair although there is a drink minimum to be aware of.
There are many good features of Laughs, so why not 5 stars? Well, let's be honest, nothing is perfect. The parking is limited, street only. On a busy night, you have a walk ahead of you and it is Seattle so probably in the rain. The food is best described as standard bar quality food. Not bad, not good. Deep fried cheese, edamame, burgers, fries, fish and chips, etc. All of these are fine but nobody will go back for the great food, at Laughs you go for the comedy.
Which brings us to the final drawback and why Laughs is not perfect, but still our best comedy club. As with any club, the comedians are hit and miss, testing new material and the club trying new people. This is expected. Bringing back comedians that routinely bomb is unusual, and what I struggle to accept. Especially putting known not funnies in front of well known headliners. Ouch.
Ok, let's bring this review home. You must go to Laughs Comedy Spot! This is the place for comedy in Seattle. Yes, we have other clubs and they are not bad but Laughs is consistently better in several important ways. Frankly, in all the many years I've gone to Laughs across their locations, I have always had a good time and,...
Read moreSo I thought I would enjoy a wonderful night out with my partner. The show was in fact great but the service was terrible. They were unorganized, slow, and gave my check to the wrong couple, then again to the wrong couple once my card was already in the folder. When I voiced my concern to the owner she apologized saying it was his first night. I offered suggestions which seemed to irritate her. The kicker was when she said "well I apologized what do you want me to slit my wrists and bleed blood? I was too through. I knew then and there they would never get another dollar out of me. Apparently they did as well because they responded to my yelp review in full force. First the wife responded trying to justify the terrible service and response. When I responded back and told them I didn't care because they STILL charged my card wrong but luckily for a lesser amount, her husband and coowner sent me a private message that read, and I quote,
"my wife felt real bad about your situation. but I don't care about you. +you were rude to my staff +you were rude to my wife everybody, including show attendees said your a world class b*&%h! owner david dennison"
This is the type of response you can expect from the top of this business ...it truly is laughable! Especially given that I had no interaction with anyone there besides the waiter and his wife. Its a comedy show in the dark...what attendees would have complained about me and for what, laughing too loud, or maybe not enough? LOL Or maybe it was teh attendees that walked out without paying their biill because these peopl dont have a system in place or enough workers to keep up with the tabs. Several people came and enjoyed free drinks and appetizers. But im the "B" for expecting my card to come back to me and not some stranger?...
Read moreI visited this venue a couple of weeks ago. We arrived to the area an hour early and were worried we'd have to kill time somewhere. This venue let people in early, which was nice because we could order food and drinks and got a table right by the stage. The lighting was good, it didn't feel overly loud or crowded. The length of show (around 1.5 hours) was a good amount of time and for $20 it felt very worth the entertainment. All of the comedians were hilarious! The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars were that a couple of the drinks seemed to completely lack alcohol (adds up quickly at $12ish a drink) but that could happen anywhere. The Manhattan drink was amazingly strong though. The food menu was smaller "fingerfood" plates but the edamame we ordered was a decent amount for two people to share. Other options (that we didn't try) were things like fish strips, chicken strips, possibly calamari? A few dessert options like chocolate cake. It is a good date night venue. There's outlets along the wall where you could charge your cell phone if you are at one of those tables. We found street parking in a residential area only one short block over (three minute walk or less), so the walk wasn't far. I'd definitely go...
