I really like this place. A $9.95 everyday special of: tofu pad thai, chicken curry, spring roll, and a small cup of tofu soup (while supplies last) really speaks for itself. They have the market cornered there.
Very casual, welcoming environment that they've somehow pulled off in a terrible, down-a-half-flight-of-stairs, low-ceiling space for a restaurant. They have to use a sandwich board and window paint for signage. I feel bad.
I don't have AS much to say about this place simply because it's good food at a fair price and I get the same thing every time.
The tofu pad thai might be premade and waiting in the back, just because when I order 5 star they just sprinkle a bunch of crushed red pepper flakes on top, which means it wasn't made to order.
The curry is solid and adds some veggie components that I tend to like: zucchini and carrot. This does seem made to order.
The nitpicky portion:
Portion sizes aren't huge for the price, but you walk out full. Fully Americanized with those cheesy, sort of in-your-face classic flavors, but almost all thai restaurants are... I mentioned the premade bit and I think the spring roll might be reheated in the microwave or something. There were some telltale signs of microwave heating, but that's not the highlight of the dish anyway. Why curry + rice on the plate?! So much good sauce and flavor lost to a flat surface! I think it should be served in a small bowl, but hey I don't run the place.
Well done Little...
Read moreI honestly can't believe the food I received today from this place. I am newly pregnant and hungry, so I overlooked the fact that the combination fried rice had more bean sprouts than rice. I ordered to go, but my toddler wanted to eat there, so I unpacked the food there. The fish green curry (which I normally buy green curry because it is sweet and not spicy) and she asked me on a scale of 1-3 what level of spicy. It seemed right to say 2.
When I got to the curry, I noticed a crap load of chili paste at the bottom of the soup and it wasn't the normal green, but a darker color, meaning there was entirely too much chili paste in the soup. I assume she saw that I ordered for both my toddler, so I was upset when I took a small taste from the soup and my tongue started burning. It literally seared my tongue. In fact, my tongue is still hurting and I know it would have harmed my daughter's, as well.
I asked them to remake it, but now that I am home, I can't fathom coming back to that place because that was not what I paid for. I really want my tip back and my money for service, but this honest, horrible review...
