I must say, my expectations were pleasantly shattered at Macu Tea. As someone who typically tiptoes around the boba craze, I was caught off guard by the toothsomeness that awaited me here.
Now, I've had my fair share of boba encounters, and more often than not, I find myself underwhelmed. But Macau Tea? They've mastered the art of boba perfection. These little spheres of joy strike the ideal balance between chewy and bouncy, making each bite a tiny celebration in your mouth.
And the drinks? I opted for their Chi-Chi Strawberry Smoothie along with the Chi-Chi Golden Leaf Tea (I love cheese foam). Though I was unable to adjust the sweetness on the smoothie, I was nevertheless surprised that the sweetness was not overpowering, but rather complemented the sweetness of the boba very well. It was like the drink whispered sweet nothings to my taste buds instead of shouting in their faces like some other places tend to do.
Even as a self-proclaimed boba skeptic, I found myself reaching for sip after sip, unable to resist the allure of Macu...
Read moreI've heard about this place so many times from dcard (Taiwanese forum) and my Cali friends, so I was super happy that they opened a branch at UW even tho it's not super close to me.
I ordered through hungry panda since it's like tax free with the coupon lol, but I believe they prioritize people who order in store first, so I've waited a while. Read moreMy son and I are big boba fans and love to stop by a boba shop on our weekend bike rides. I've been here twice now and am definitely going to be coming back. This place is my favorite for the super high quality drinks and variety in flavors and toppings.
I had the chichi grape smoothie (a special flavor and came with green tea jelly) and the oolong milk tea with 3Q added (boba, Bobo and coconut jelly). Both drinks and all toppings were top of the line delicious. The "desert" smoothies can't be customized with added boba, but I didn't miss it because the green tea jelly and "Chi Chi" salty cheese foam went perfectly with the smoothie flavor. The oolong tea was also perfect.
The place seems to be kept very clean and has a classic white and wood...
