I am compelled to share my extremely disappointing experience at Rhein Hause, which occurred last night. From the onset, the service was notably subpar. The bartender exhibited a consistently negative attitude, characterized by an alarming lack of professionalism. This included, but was not limited to, throwing cups and menus at me in a manner that I found both disrespectful and offensive.
The inefficiency of the service further compounded the issue, with an inordinate delay in serving drinks. This prompted me to reconsider my initial plan of ordering a round of shots for five people, as I was already dissatisfied with the service.
Regrettably, the situation escalated when I opted to tip lower than usual, reflecting the poor service received due to his negative and hostile attitude all throughout the night. This decision was met with outright aggression from the server, who resorted to yelling and arguing, instead of understanding the feedback. Such behavior is not only unprofessional but also creates a hostile environment for patrons.
Furthermore, my final order, for which I paid $15, was not as requested. I received a mix of sodas instead of the alcoholic beverage ordered. This mix of sodas tasted extremely wierd, I had no idea what was in it since I supposedly ordered the caprisun, there were even bits of chunks and pieces of an unknown substance in this cup. Outright gross and robbed. This is not just a service failure but borders on deceitful practice, as it felt like a deliberate act of scamming. This individual, a white male approximately 6 feet 2 inches in height, possibly had red hair under his beanie. He was working alongside a female colleague on the dance floor side of the bar.
Efforts to seek redress from the security personnel proved futile, as I was advised to contact the establishment the following day. This lack of immediate support left me feeling defenseless and neglected as a customer.
I must emphasize that this review is not just a reflection of a single night’s poor experience but echoes the sentiments of many who have frequented Rhein and faced similar issues. If these concerns are not addressed promptly, I fear the establishment’s reputation may suffer, as more patrons take to social media to share their experiences.
In closing, I strongly urge the management of Rouse to take immediate action, particularly in training staff to uphold the standards of customer service one would expect. A refund for the erroneously served and overcharged final drink would be a first step in addressing this grievance.
I regret to say that, unless these issues are resolved, I will not be patronizing Rhein...
Read moreI always get suspicious when a German styled place has the classic German sport of Bocce mentioned anywhere ;-) (of course it's not German at all). Oh well, seems to be a thing here ...
Anyway, this didn't deter me from visiting the place with some folks from out of town who wanted to go there.
First things first - service was prompt and courteous, nothing to complain about there. I like the atmosphere of the place but it's a little confused as to its identity with some classic (southern) German themes but mixed in with Swiss and Austrian. Make up your mind!
Prices are steep - $19 for a large pretzel as an appetizer seems a bit much and high even for Octoberfest prices. The pretzel itself was OK, a bit too greasy on the outside, and came with three sauces. The mustard (not typically German again, but oh well the locals seem to like it like that) was good, the so called obatzda (usually a mix of mostly camembert with other ingredients) only seemed a lightly spiced cream cheese, yuck, and the "beer cheese fondue" was some grossly congealed cheese-flavoured cream with skin formed on top already. Pass.
The rest of the food seems German-inspired but with the usual Capitol Hill frufru hipster nonsense added. For instance, the rosemary fried chicken wasn't much more than what you'd find in a KFC bucket with a sprig of rosemary thrown on top. Tasty, but very greasy and very salty.
The Jägerschnitzel was tough shoe leather, which was covered with a minimal amount of red cabbage and congealed sauce. The whole thing was barely bigger than my hand, we were wondering "where's the rest of the dish" - given this was a $26 main course dish, you don't really get much in terms of food (and most of it was so hard to chew it was left on the plate).
The Spätzle was the best dish we had. Interesting take on it with what I think were some form of Asian inspired flavours. They were tasty, but I think I'd prefer the simple version (and no, you don't put cream into the cheese version you have on the list of sides.).
Overall I'd go back if I ever wanted to have a beer hall experience again just to enjoy a liter (Mass) of beer on a hot summer day. The drink selection is pretty decent, but again seemed at the higher end. But definitely not...
Read moreHad a really great time here on my birthday, came back a second time things have drastically changed there is no table service and the staff don't seem as welcoming nor friendly as before I'm not sure if it's because they hate their job legitimately or if they're just not friendly people. Since visiting, we spend quite a bit of money every time, but get treated like the red headed stepchild when we ask for clean glassesfor water. There's never really any outside seating available so the inside seating is pretty crowded as of late. There's more seating towards the front door and the bar if you're willing to be around a bunch of noise. Food is always really, really good. I will say that schnitzel is delicious and the sausage sampler is delicious, definitely can be eaten over the next 3 days if you're willing to stretch it out. The sides are to die for in the appetizers or even better. The donut holes are absolutely delectable and delicious really glad they took away that bootlegged German chocolate cake which was really just a brownie with some coconut shavings on it( not traditional). The food in my picture is posted from both times that I visited. The drinks and food are definitely the the Reason I return now that I don't get to interact with the staff because everyone's switching over to QR codes it's not very prevalent to have top notch customer service skills but if someone's asking for a for a physical menu they should still be able to use that because not everyone has a phone you're pretty much turning away is way 47% of the population who do not rely on technology during a dining experience. Although this is a great place for good food and drinks I do foresee it closing in the future based off of that poor business decision alone, and the...
