*Raised again. Bar service was good.
*Raised rating. Ready to go with no runaround when I went in for a dinner delivery.
Not so top of the morning to GIG workers. A time estimate for food prep is in fact: not your job, but now you have a bad review. Don't hurt the people that support you. Deliverers can pick up another job quickly, not lose out on tips, not let double orders get cold, and not risk parking violations. Another driver will soon be on the way when the food is closer to ready.
I strolled in to this quiet bar for a delivery order on a sunny Sunday lunch hour and was greeted, without heart, a confident assurance that the order was being prepped as we speak. I caught a bad feel about the interaction, but dropped it. As I sat and waited and the seeds of bad intention and negativity grew, another GIG worker leaving who had been there waiting patiently prior to my arrival, noted in passing that he'd said thank you to her (politely) and she had said nothing in return. A fair warning of the intentions at play, to come, and appreciated.
This is when I realized that the clause I did not catch hidden in the food preparation information was that there was an indefinite amount of time it could take.
After a little more time near the daylighted entrance, my patience faltered and I journeyed into the darker part of the establishment where she resided to humbly appeal for a more specific time estimate. When queried, she countered quickly and triumphantly, and with a touch of spite that all she said was that it was being prepared and not a time estimate. Being a little shocked at the confirmation of my fears I don't remember more specifically what her following words were, but what it amounted to was, "not my job".
A roughly accurate time estimate would be appreciated if you have the time in the future. It's not specifically your job, but it is a very appreciated courtesy to the people waiting patiently to...
Read moreMy wife and I came in here on a trip to Seattle after our wedding, and what should have been a special meal turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had. The food was awful. The corned beef was so overcooked it was dry and tough, and the mashed potatoes tasted old and reheated — dry, dense, and unappetizing. I ordered the 3-piece fish and chips, which I was genuinely excited for, but it had absolutely no flavor. For a place that advertises itself as an Irish pub, the food felt careless and poorly made. The service was no better. We sat for about 10 minutes without being acknowledged, only to watch another couple who came in after us get served first. Once we finally ordered, the food came out quickly, but then we were completely ignored. Nobody checked in for at least 20–30 minutes, leaving us sitting there with empty glasses and no chance to mention the problems with our food. The atmosphere didn’t make up for it either. Instead of feeling welcomed, it felt like we were just another table to get out of the way. For a restaurant with a strong name and reputation, this was shockingly bad across the board; food, service, and overall experience. We left feeling disappointed, frustrated, and regretting we had chosen this place for what should have been a special night out. To be fair, the server was polite when they did interact with us, which is the only reason I didn’t say anything about a refund in the moment. Looking back, I wish I had, because the experience as a whole was not worth the...
Read moreSix for dinner. Start with great, authentic Irish music playing as you enter the bar and grill. I'd say the most difficult thing to decide is what to eat. Absolutely everything on the menu made me salivate and imagine eating each thing. My solution was genius--i sample a little of each thing my dining companions ordered. I got the chicken pot pie and shared a few bites of mine with everyone. I tasted the Corned beef and cabbage; and the macaroni and cheese, etc. The braised cabbage and corned beef was my favorite, the macaroni and cheese with small pieces of corned beef, my second, and my pot pie, my third--all good. Decor, of course, is part and parcel of what really makes an Irish pub. Without the acoutremount, the beer on tap, the Irish harp, the pithy Irish blessings and sayings on plaques on the walls, mirrors, music, the color green, etc., what is a pub? Yes, all present. Plus, the great grub. Parking, of course, is non existent, except for paid parking, perhaps across the street. Outdoor seatings available, as is both booth and bar seating. Reservations can be made, but when we tried, we could not get through to a live person, and the online scheduler didn't work. We gave up and chanced a walk-in. Thurs. evening, we were seated right away-few people were in...
