Have been a longtime fan of shingletown and will not be returning. Very disappointed and disheartened by staffs response and failure to protect women and general lack of care for women’s safety. Went out with friends and was having a great time, it’s around Halloween so it was pretty busy. Us three women waited in line to use the bathroom for about twenty minutes which is usual for a busy night. When we entered the restroom a belligerently drunk and very large man forced his way into the bathroom as we tried to close the door. He was saying he needed to go really quick and cursing at us. Things escalated and a group of large and extremely intoxicated men were forcing their way into the bathroom and had us cornered. They were screaming at us, cussing, threatening us and would not get out or let us exit. Finally an onlooker stepped in and helped us exit the bathroom. Three bartenders were standing right there and had seen and heard the entire thing and did not act. All of the men who threatened us and followed us into the bathroom were allowed to stay and continued to follow us through the bar calling us names and threatening us. I finally made it to the front to ask the manager for help, and he (smelling strongly like beer) said “oh yeah that happens it’s busy tonight” I pointed the men out who were in very distinct and obvious costumes and still nothing was done. None of us felt safe anymore and left since men followed us into the bathroom and continued to follow us through the bar and staff did absolutely nothing. Extremely disappointed by the lack of regard for women’s safety and the clearly intoxicated “manager.” I know it’s a country bar, and have loved it here, but NEVER expected the misogyny to extend to ignoring and enabling men to threaten the safety of women and follow them into the bathroom. If you’re a women and value your safety and don’t want men following you into a bathroom and staff to blatantly enable men to make you unsafe, don’t go here....
Read moreShingletown is hands-down one of the most welcoming and comfortable bars I’ve been to. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel right at home with their friendly, down-to-earth attitude. The country-themed atmosphere is warm and inviting, and it’s the kind of place where you can let loose and have fun without any worries.
One thing that really stands out is how safe and respected I feel as a woman here. The bartenders and staff are always attentive, making sure everyone is having a good time while also looking out for their guests. Whether you’re out with friends or even stopping by solo, there’s a strong sense of security, which is so important. The owner and all the staff know all the regulars by name and make us feel very welcomed and safe.
The crowd is fun and welcoming, the music is great, and they even have events like karaoke and line dancing that add to the charm. Plus, the drinks are fantastic, and the food, especially the chicken, is the perfect addition to a night out. If you’re looking for a place that feels like home, with good vibes and even better people, Shingletown...
Read moreWent on Tuesday for BINGO night. Go they said. It will be fun they said. You will have a great time, they said. They have never been so wrong. First of all, it is a "country" bar. This must be true as there were bails of hay, country type things hanging on the wall, and country music playing. I suppose that is all it takes to be a country bar but it seems to have missed the mark (I think the mark was 1980 when Urban Cowboy was released). The actual bingo was vaguely fun if you enjoy having a loud man yell into a microphone that is turned up so loud that you can't hear the person next to you. The worst part of all was the fact that there was only one bartender who stayed at the bar and you had to go order from her. It would take 5-10 minutes to get your drink even though most in my party were drinking the Moscow Mules which they have on tap. Overall, Imma gonna...
