A Delightful Mexican Escape with a Warm Vibe. Nestled charmingly with just four outdoor tables and a quaint indoor area, this spot strikes the perfect balance of casual comfort and intimacy. The outdoor space is ideal for basking in pleasant weather, while inside offers a cozy escape when the breeze turns brisk. It’s a genuinely inviting setting that feels both relaxed and personal. Guacamole: Creamy, fresh, and perfectly seasoned—this guacamole is a real highlight, packing just the right amount of zing. Tacos, Quesadillas & Burritos: Each comes thoughtfully prepared with quality fillings and robust Mexican flavors. The tacos are bursting with juicy components, the quesadillas are melty and satisfying, and the burritos are hearty and delicious. Bowls: A great lighter yet filling alternative—built with vibrant ingredients, they offer both comfort and balance in every bite. Breakfast: From savory items like huevos rancheros or breakfast burritos to more classic morning fare, the breakfast menu shines. Everything feels thoughtfully curated—impressive for a place also delivering full lunch and dinner menus. The owner’s warm, friendly demeanor adds a personal touch that stands out—from greeting you with a genuine smile to offering helpful recommendations. Combined with the reasonable pricing, this spot delivers both heart and value in equal measure. This is one of those rare finds where everything—from food quality and service to atmosphere and price—aligns seamlessly. Whether you’re settling in for a leisurely breakfast, grabbing tacos for a breezy afternoon patio lunch, or enjoying a tranquil indoor meal, it hits all the right notes. Enjoy!

Taco El Lago is the best Mexican food I’ve had in Washington! I was so excited when this neighborhood spot opened up recently (even though I’ll miss RoRo’s!), and their food and staff are phenomenal. Both Barbie and Kristen are so welcoming and kind. Even though the restaurant has only been open for a short amount of time, they’ve already taken the time to get to know me, my family, and my friends. I’ve chatted with them multiple times now while dining in, and each time it’s been delightful. Everything on the menu has been excellent! Great chips, guac, and salsa options. Their chorizo, carne asada, al pastor, and carne asada is to die for. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and generous portions. Their tortillas are so fresh and tasty, and I highly recommend their breakfast burritos too! (sometimes they even have birria which is amazing!) Overall, I truly can’t write enough good things about this place! Reasonable prices and a much needed addition to the Wallingford community. Can’t wait to continue to eat here and tell more friends about this place. A must visit for anybody living in Seattle!

The tortillas are amazing! The quesabirria is a must try with delicious consommé. The habanero salsa is bright and spicy adding a a much needed kick to the asada taco that was lack luster. I ended up dipping the asada in the consommé. The al pastor was a tad over spiced, not in the flavor profile, but the texture was chalky and I couldn’t distinguish any pineapple which seems to be a hallmark of al pastor. The decor echos of Roro’s BBQ and even has relics of the former restaurant scattered about the dining room. But has some festive additions to make it more thematic for the Mexican vibes. Overall, a welcomed taco menu for the neighborhood and worth coming back for a breakfast taco!

My partner and I used to love this place - we'd order breakfast tacos or breakfast bowls from them at least once a week (while we rarely ate out). The food here used to be delicious and flavorful, their salsas were amazing (and hot) (quite possibly the best salsa I've had), the homemade tortilla was perfect, all the staff were friendly, and the portion was huge compared to the price.

However, to our disappointment, since ~2 months ago, things started going downhill. Our theory is that they have changed ownership: first thing we noticed was their signature salsas disappeared - both the flavorful red and the super hot habanero were no longer available, while their new salsas tasted bland. When we went to pick up, the entire staff we were familiar with were gone. but at least, the food tasted relatively the same. Then today, I got my regular asada breakfast bowl - I immediately noticed that the content had a different look (missing cilantro, etc.), the red salsa I requested wasn't there, and the flavor was lacking, especially the asada cubes and the eggs. The entire bowl tasted rather bland. Portion was still the same and the packaging was still the same, but everything felt different. Oh, and suddenly they start charging a fee for credit card payment.

If you are the owner and see this review, please bring back the old recipe, chef,...
