Urban Sushi Kitchen has reopened but with new ownership and it is NOT the same. A few lowlights: -The rolls took much longer to come out than expected. One of the rolls came out 30 minutes after the others. At this point, we were leaving. We asked for a refund and they told us in a very rude way that they don't do any refunds. -One of the rolls was missing a key ingredient. We asked them about it and they clumsily cut pieces of that ingredient and put it on the plate, instead of remaking the roll with it inside. -The rice is pretty bad quality now. -The menu is completely different and much more expensive. -The chirashi bowls are much smaller- they look more like standard bowls you can get anywhere. -Overall, rude and bad service which is SUCH a shame because the previous owners & employees were wonderful. The owner/ sushi chef was wearing a mask really low, only partially covering his mouth.
I'd love to know where the pre-covid USK owners are now! This was a favorite lunch spot of mine for a long time but we won't...
Read moreMy philosophy for ordering sushi is to buy quality simple rolls, like their California roll with real crab. I might feel like getting the decadent rolls with sugar and sauce all over, like their Urban roll, but wont miss them if I dont, and will be healthier long term.
The sashimi salad was unique, I’ve never had a salad with sashimi and vinegar on the greens. Some of the greens looked a little raggedy otherwise it was perfect.
The lava roll was a bit too decadent for me. It is very good, perhaps a bit too good.
The urban roll is good, similar to the lava roll.
I did like the vegan sushi roll which had tofu, avocado, and something else.
Update: Today, October 5th 2020, I had some of their sushi rolls. The California, Seattle and Boston. They all had rotten avocado and tasted way too much like vinegar. The meat and avocado should be the main flavor not the vinegar or whatever it is they put in it.
Update: January 2021. No quality issues like before....
Read moreThis little gem is located in the busy downtown Seattle business district, on the ground floor of an Amazon building. It is situated between Starbucks and a small "mini-mart" type store. There is some seating along the "bar", and a long, narrow bar-height table down the middle, and some seating at small tables along the walls. The interior is neat, clean, inviting, and modern-looking, very appeasing to the eye. You order in the back corner by the bar. The menu is excellent, with choices of traditional sushi, shashimi, a Poké bowl, and other items. The prices are decent, consistent with this area. The food comes out quickly, and I've been able to successfully have a comfortable sit-down meal as an early lunch, around 11am - although the main rush of course is just around noon and it does get quite busy.
The staff here is great. I've received nothing but excellent service here and I will continue to come here for lunch on a...
