Current review
So I actually visited and stayed at the hotel, the hotel has a very rock and roll glam style with a lobby that has board games and water and a gum machine.
Everything seems clean, however I didn't know I wouldn't have any sort of glasses or cups within my room, I literally had to ask the front desk to provide a few for me.
The room is tiny and while I'm not there most of the day it's not the most comfortable with the table and chair provided for two people can only seat one and while looking nice but being quite uncomfortable. The bathroom is tiny with no counter space and your knees almost hitting the wall when you sit on the toilet.
There is snacks and drinks available in the room for a super expensive price, so if you don't care you can have water, beer or wine. The walls are very thin so you definitely need to use the provided ear plugs to sleep in quiet. You can order room service as well.
Great central downtown location which is a big positive.
I'd say this is a little more about style than substance overall as a hotel.
*EDIT previous
I made a review a few days ago and I just wanted to update this and make a few key points of difference. I'll start off by saying the front office manager (Phillip Johnson) is definitely deserving his credit and a big thumbs up with dealing with this and helping. I definitely appreciate his work and efforts.
this review change isn't about the staff of the hotel or the rooms but rather dealing with the reservations side, I can honestly say it's a horrible experience and I would not recommend it to anyone, the fact that I made a simple reservation and I didn't receive a confirmation that was professional or contain the information needed is astonishing to me, during the course of the last few days I've dealt with several people most of whom have passed me back and forth amongst each other, every person taking my information and promising to send me the confirmation email and didn't.
This is a reservation for next year, I know it's early but as with any purchase you definitely want to have proof, all in all once I'm actually at the hotel I'll be sure to update and leave a complete review including staff, room and more.

I booked a trip for March 2018 and honestly dealing with the hotel has been a nightmare, all I want is a simple conformation paper that is properly done, my card has been charged but I have yet to receive anything. At the time of this writing it's almost 36 hours and I've lost count of how many people I've spoken with but all of them are quick to pass me on to the next person and I've had someone hang up on me during a call. I can't speak to the quality of the rooms but based on the interaction with hotel management I'm extremely reluctant to suggest this to people, I've honestly never dealt with such an unprofessional group of people and especially given this hotels high...
Read moreFor its price point and downtown location, the Hotel Max is a great value. I booked a 3 night stay as the main purpose of my trip was for a concert at Climate Pledge Arena, but I also planned to take in a Mariners' game and do some sightseeing. Hotel Max's central location allowed me to get to things easily on foot. Here are my pros and cons of this hotel.||Pros-||amazing location - close to many great restaurants, Pikes Place Market, waterfront, Seattle Art Museum, Pacific Science Center. Amazon Spere||||quirky decor ||||clean room and well stocked bathroom||||spacious closet with an iron and an umbrella (although the weather during my 3 days there was beautiful)||||clean hallways, stairwells, lobby area||||2 bikes (first come, first served) available to take out for exploring||||complimentary coffee bar (AM) and beer&wine bar (PM)||||alarm clock by the bed is equipped with blue tooth, so I could play my music while relaxing before bed||||Cons-||Elevators are terribly slow and very small. During my entire stay, only 1 elevator was working (although there was no sign indicating the other was out of service), and it would literally take minutes for one to arrive, and sometimes it was already crowed (3 or 4 average sized adults is the max those cars will hold). A couple of times I had to end up taking the stairs to exit because I got tired of waiting for an elevator.||||Bathroom shower is very, very small. I'm 6 foot 2 and 200 pounds, and I could not turn around in the shower without touching the wall or the shower curtain. ||||The room has a mini-fridge, but no microwave. The lack of microwave was a bit of an inconvenience as I got most of my meals from the nearby Whole Foods on Westlake Ave, and it would have been nice to have a microwave to heat up any leftovers.||||The "resort fee" of $30 per night. I was aware of this fee before I checked in, but I had no idea what it covered. When checking in, the front desk employee mentioned this charge. I asked specifically what does it cover. It's related to complimentary coffee bar and the evening beer & wine bar as well as the bikes and the fitness center (which I never used because I was walking about 8-10 miles each of the 3 days I was there). It's kind of hard to call this a con, as I only utilized the coffee bar one (the morning of my check out), but that cup of coffee was not worth $90. Haha||||Overall, I would give Hotel Max a "B". My quibbles about my stay are minor, and overall I would highly recommend it as a place to stay as long as your focus is on getting out and about to explore Seattle, and you're not looking for some 5 star luxury hotel experience. For the budget conscious traveler, this is a great value. I definitely would choose this place again for my next getaway...
Read moreThere are 2 things my husband and I love: rock & roll and beer. This hotel provided both in abundance. I love the style of this hotel. It’s everything I want from a hotel: funky and modern with nice people running it. I love the colour scheme and the cool art throughout the building, the “Seattle Doesn’t Settle” logo on the wall outside and the big neon Hotel Max sign that comes on at night. It’s just our kind of hotel. It's Rock & Roll crossed with Pop Art.
That said, there were people of all ages staying there, so don't be fooled by thinking this is a hotel just for young people. Everyone was very laid back and very cool.
As my husband is a huge Pearl Jam fan we asked to stay on the Sub Pop floor. )As if we need any more rock & roll in our lives…!) Even though this was not possible for our whole stay, the team at Hotel Max were more than happy to move us mid-way through our stay and were so accommodating and helpful. I’m sure most hotels would just say no.
We loved the FREE beer hour (music to our ears!) in the evening. Such a great idea and a pleasant surprise! As we stayed a week we got to try a vast range of beers. Tip: they’re not conservative when it comes to top ups or helping you out with a second round so take advantage!
Also brilliant were the teas & coffees in reception in the morning. Although they had these facilities in the rooms it was another string to their bow and a welcome extra.
Hotel Max gets extra points for the fact that you get rewarded for being green by not having room service every day – this is an issue I hold close to my heart and mark most hotels down for. Every hotel should do this!
Last, but not least is how awesome Kevin, the General Manager, was. A lovely guy, who is happy to chat and seems genuinely interested in who you are and what you’re about. He is the biggest credit to this hotel. None of the rest stands up without someone decent manning the ship and Kevin is the guy.
My ONLY TINY negative point, in agreement with a few earlier comments, is the lack of suggestions from staff on where to grab a decent breakfast. The breakfast at The Miller’s Guild was fantastic, but as we were staying a week, it got a bit tiresome and we wanted to try something different, but the staff didn’t seem terribly clued up on other options… A little research into the area you work in perhaps…? Just a small thing though!
Would we stay there...
