Came to check this place out for lunch as I've been to Mamnoon and although pricey, its very delicious. First impressions were that this place was going to be overpriced since its located in the bottom floor of Amazon's doppler building, but i was pleasantly surprised. I'd recommend coming in during off lunch hours as this place filled up very quickly. I came at 11:25 and got seated without any issues but it got packed very quickly.
The servers were quick and pleasant, with the restaurant having a good bright vibe. I tried the lamb shawarma, chicken shawarma wrap, and the Muhammara (red pepper & walnut spread with pita). The Muhammara was an appetizer and its not always available. I was initially craving baba ganoush but my friends wanted this and I was ok with something different! The flavors were very well balanced, with a surpring crunch from the walnuts (i think, maybe it was pine nuts).
The lamb shawarma costs about $1.50 more, and the server initially told us that people dont like due to the wrap having too much lamb, which makes 0 sense at all. Since I'm still a growing boy, i opted for the lamb since I need my proteins and i love lamb. My friends made me split the other half of my wrap with their chicken shawarma and I was disappointed to say the least. The lamb had an amazing marinade with the fantastic grilled charboiled flavor, paried with a light amount of sauce & pickled cabbage. The chicken shawarma was more like a california burrito with fries and juicy chicken. Overall, I'm very pleased and I'd totally come back! The lamb shawarma had great flavor & portions and I strongly...
Read moreI didn't pay much attention to Mamnoon when it moved into the neighborhood. Among the many new restaurants that occupied the street level of Amazon's new tower in the Denny Triangle, my attention was grabbed first by Marination, Skillet, and Cinque Terra. But as time has passed I've dropped in more often looking for something a little different than the usual. And subtlety, quietly, Mamnoon has become a regular in my rotation.
This restaurant is a delight for many reasons. First, because they have a small sit down venue and a walk up window for quick orders from the street. They offer indoor and sidewalk seating. And they have a full bar. Then there's the food, which is terrific. Persian flavors of mint and turmeric and cardamom that are fresh and vibrant. Their hummus is wonderful. I am a fan of their falafel and shawarmas. And they have a mint iced tea that's very refreshing.
The restaurant is tiny, their are only eight tables for two inside which can be push together groups, and seating for about eight on bar stools along with window sills and bar has about four spots. But it's tight quarters without a lot of elbow room. And this matters most of all during the lunch rush when this is crazy busy with Amazon employees. But after five and on weekends, it's not usually a problem to find a table.
If your in the neighborhood, give...
Read moreUpdate: I went back for my usual order today (2 weeks after my original review, which was only written after I had been to Mamnoon enough times for me to be able to say they're "consistent"), and it was deeply disappointing. There was essentially no sauce in the shawarma, there was an EXCESSIVE amount of picked peppers, and the fries were under-seasoned. I had a similar issue last week but decided to give them another chance and unfortunately, disappointed again. I'm going to have to go from 4 to 3 stars unfortunately. I'll consider raising my review again if their quality issues improve.
One of the few halal "shawarma" places in Seattle that is consistently decent. Their shawarmas are also different than your usual shawarma because of the filling options and the garlic-tahini sauce. My go-to order is chicken shawarma wrap and harra fries. The harra fries are seasoned generously and the za'atar sauce is amazing (I would personally skip the spicy ketchup. They will double the za'atar mayo if you opt out of the spicy ketchup). I can't really speak for the rest of their menu items but I tasted the halloumi fries once and it was way too salty. I'm not sure if it was a one-off or the usual but regardless I would stay away from that...
