Horrible experience. I did not rate the food nor atmosphere because we never ate there and only sat in the waiting area. When we arrived at 6 we were told there would be no seating until 7. We found that odd because the website said nothing and when my wife called to see if we can get reservations, they never mentioned this little detail. So after waiting for 45-50 minutes, I was observing that there were only two people out front. They did bring out food for pick-up orders. In 40 minutes there about 2-4 people/groups who picked up food to-go. During this time, I realized they were woefully understaffed. In the meantime, the young woman and presumably the maitre de was rude to my wife as she asked her questions. About 6:55 I walked up and asked them when we can be seated. Her response was "we aren't sure." So I said to her and the only other worker I saw that it is obviously understaffed. I also asked if we were to get seated would there be an issue with us getting food in a timely manner. They told me they didn't know. I was annoyed and told them they needed to be honest with their customers instead of hiding the fact that they were understaffed. They responded by being rude and defensive. Then the matre de told me if I don't like iot to leave. That is when I got pissed. These two people were wholly inexperienced to be managing a restaurant. If they were indeed understaffed they should have told people when they called and when they walked in to eat-in that there would be a delay. The best decision would have been to close the seating area and only offer take-out. Instead they let us sit there for close to an hour with no end in site for actually getting served and eventually eating. Ultimately the food might be great but on this night it was a cluster-#%$#! I would never go...
Read moreWhile out with our large extended family we couldn’t find many places open late enough willing to serve us; that is until we walked into Red Chopsticks tonight. While the location is pretty small they made it work the best they could so we could be close together. Service was phenomenal from the time we opened the door and were greeted. That service carried over with our waiter who was friendly, smiled and interacted so well with us all. He was patient and we never had to ask for refills etc. the menu has so many great options and we all were able to find something we would enjoy. A couple of us shared the wor wonton soup large portion. When I tell you it was delicious that’s an understatement. So full of yummy shrimp, mushrooms and of course wontons. The Portion was more than enough to share, but I could’ve easily eaten the large portion as a meal alone. SO GOOD! As the entree I had the Happy Family with fried rice. Definitely a smaller portion for the price, but again so good! If looking to share I’d say order an appetizer too. Others in our group ordered beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, egg drop soup, and something else I can’t remember. There were practically no left overs. We’ve been coming to Sedona for decades multiple times a year and can’t believe we had never been until tonight. I’m already counting down the days until our next visit. I’ll definitely be telling all of our friends and family. I should add they even had a cute little gift shop with jewelry, rocks, wood crafted items and more. Thanks again for an amazing dinner. Don’t sleep on this...
Read moreMy wife and I finally made it over to Red Chopstick last night. In the past we came up a few times on Wednesdays, always forgetting that the restaurant is closed on Wednesdays, but we remembered this time. It was worth the wait. We each enjoyed our food and the service was fast as well as friendly. I got the shrimp with snow peas and my wife got chicken chop suey. We like our food spicy so we asked for them to be extra hot and they were OK but the waitress brought out the chili sauce before we had to ask. Each dish had a very nice flavor, was appropriately portioned and the ingredients tasted fresh. I didn't have any MSG headache after eating but I'm not sure if they use it or not. All in all it was very good and we are happy that we kept trying to find them open. I only dropped one star, down to four, because when I went to wash my hands the bar in the front of the restaurant looks like a locker room with what I assume to be employee personal effects and the bathroom could use some work (i.e. soap dispenser on wall is broken so there are a couple of kinds of hand soap containers on the counter. At least there was soap but little things like that could...
