Edit: The day after I posted my original review I got a text from the owner offering to replace my order at no charge. I was willing to give them another shot and I was not disappointed. All the previous issues were resolved and they took such care to pay attention to my likes, like extra sesame seeds in my cold noodles. The owner even texted me after to make sure we were happy. We are all human and have our off days. That's ok. The service in response was beyond reproach. Wonderful local, family run restaurant. I will definitely be back! Thank you Hong Kong Team!
I've been ordering from here for awhile and always enjoyed it. What I received felt like it came from a different restaurant and it was not good. Not sure what's up. There were some good things.... The egg roll, while small, was crispy and hot. The pork in the fried rice was good, larger pieces and tender. Veggies in combo platter were crisp tender and not overcooked. What was not good.... The cold sesame noodles were hot, lacked flavor and were very watery. What flavor was there was overly sweet. Didn't even have the signature sesame seeds on top. The beef and mixed veg had similar issues. Beef lacked any flavor and the sauce was super watery. The rice on the bottom was soggy from all the liquid. I'm sorry to say that I didn't even eat very much of either dish and really have no desire to eat the leftovers. Paid $30 for food that I didn't eat so not sure if I'm going to order again. Maybe I'll give it one more shot but that's a lot of money to waste,...
Read more1 star b/c the dumplings were ok and the so called "Szechuan chicken" was somewhat spicy. A far cry from authentic Szechuan food. Szechuan chicken ( 辣子鸡 ) is supposed to be coated with spices and flash fried until golden brown and crispy. It’s then stir fried with tons of dried chili peppers, Szechuan peppercorns, ginger and garlic to create a spicy numbing sensation. Their version ; a moosh of corn starch, broccoli, carrots, babycorn, mushrooms, green peppers and snowpeas. Was really looking forward to it but was a great disappointment. Just because you're Chinese takeout doesn't give you the excuse to place a dish on the menu and deliver something completely different. If you have ribeye on the menu you can't deliver meatloaf just because you're a takeout business. Shame on you for your ARROGANT response telling me that I shouldn't expect authentic Chinese food from a Chinese takeout restaurant. Take pride in yr heritage and stop scamming people. If you can't deliver it don't advertise it!! Quite simple! In response: You fail to understand the issue. You are offering a dish for sale and delivering something else. You should not be calling what you offer as Szechuan chicken; cause it's obviously not Szechuan chicken. I know plenty of restaurants. not in the area that do offer authentic 辣子鸡 as a takeout dish, so it is possible to do. You are ARROGANT; you offer no apologies, and fail to recognize that you are in the wrong! Just returning the...
Read more8/23/23-Maybe the lotto #s in the Fortune Cookies will work out, because the food sure didnt. Ordered take out, got home and noticed a few problems: I called back to let them know that: the bone in Ribs were small, child size portions, dry, burnt. They confirmed that the supplier they used was providing a smaller product and as a result, when they attempted to cook them.. that was the result. I asked why if they knew this was occurring would they continue to use the vendor or pass this on to their customers?,, moreover why the Chef would allow it??. To be fair they offered to give us a free order of ribs b next time. But if they haven't changed vendors.. what's the point. But there were some other things as well. The egg rolls were fried I guess but not crunchy. When I got home live nearby they were soft?? The beef with noodles .. same deal. The noodles were very soft..like over done.. the beef was like cubed steak. IDK..I've never had bad Chinese food..... but we won't be back. We had decided to try somewhere new. Guess we'll stick with the...
