Ever since the closure of my favorite pub in Tampa my girlfriend and I have been on the hunt for a replacement.
With just a couple changes this could easily be my new favorite pub.
I went here with my girlfriend and her family for Mother’s Day, it was not busy at all, only a couple of patrons at the bar and two tables of 4. There was only one waitress working on Mother’s Day!
We were a party of 6 and needed an handicap accessible table for one of our members in the party. The waitress was busy working by herself and clearly overwhelmed and stressed. She told us to seat ourselves but all the available tables in the restaurant were HIGH RISE TABLES.
What I mean in saying that just a few changes could improve this place is exactly this, as a restaurant you need to consider that guests in wheelchairs or other medical issues may not be able to sit at a high top or bar. There are some tables outside and some inside that are possibly usable for a person with a disability but in our case the indoor tables were taken.
Forced to find our own table outside, we had to rearrange two tables to accommodate our party ourselves. I moved an umbrella to offer some shade in the blistering sun, my girlfriend’s dad recently had an operation and his leg needs to be protected from the sunlight.
The waitress who was justifiably in a bad mood working alone told us that we can sit outside but it would be a while before she can serve us. And when she finally did come to serve us she informed me that we are not allowed to move the outdoor umbrellas to block the sunlight for our table as it’s “unsafe” and they have been known to fall out of the weighted bases.
I have a question for the owner of this place if you read my review could you please tell me why you have unsafe umbrellas on your patio? And if they are safe to use then why can they not be repositioned for the guests?
Agitated by how we were being treated, we ordered food and drinks and then baked in the sun while we waited.
I am sunburned from eating at our table on Sunday, not the fault of the server of course.
Now that my rant is over, let me just say that the shepherd’s pie here is to die for. I ate the boxty balls with the shepherds pie filling, and the loaded potato filling, and I ate the Mac and cheese balls for an appetizer. It was all delicious and we will continue to eat here in the future because of how good...
Read moreThe overall flavor, food quality, atmosphere, and service quality were all lacking. The prices were too high to be worth paying.
The fish and chips had fish that tasted like frozen fish sticks from the grocery store (not even taking their fish stick shape into account).
One of the two Reuben sandwiches had very little meat (maybe 1/8 of an inch) while the other had a little over 1 inch of meat.
The server lied to us, saying she said something she didn't say (after being told fries were desired instead of potato chips).
The potato chips tasted quite bad. They were probably potato slices fried in oil. The oil was okay. There was no flavor, and definitely no seasoning (including salt, from what we could observe).
The atmosphere was loud and had plenty of light.
The food was very expensive ($18 for a burger) compared to other restaurants with similar or better quality food.
They charged $1.99 for a 1 or 2 ounce side of either cocktail or tartar sauce.
The shepherd's pie was with ground beef instead of lamb, which makes it cottage pie.
They were out of one of the desserts. I was going to order the chocolate cake for $8, but didn't, and I was able to buy a mini ice cream cake from Cold Stone for $5.
For good fish and chips (or British food in general), go to Jack's London Grill, especially on a Friday.
For a sandwich, try Seminole Subs.
If you're willing to pay $18 for a burger, go to Five Guys.
For dessert, Cold Stone...
Read moreNice little pub, we found by hearing great music from it and walked over after some shopping. But the staff here is pretty terrible like everyone else's mentions. We got a bottle of wine from a waitress after several other attempts to get from the bar. It was a terrible wine. When the waitress finally made her way back to us a while later we casually mentioned this to her. More so to tell her not to recommend it to anyone. We weren't complaining to get something more, truly just making conversation. Then we are approached by presumably the manager who was just plain rude. She offered us another bottle and said we needed to make sure it was one we liked. She brings out samples and continues to have a bad attitude. She even took the rest of the samples back with her although we were good with that selection. She makes a comment about how we wasted $35 bottle of wine... It probably was a $7 blend from ABC next door. We were floored by her demeanor overall. We understand they are busy and short staffed but being locals in the area really would have liked to be treated a little better. Probably will not be somewhere we frequent because...
