Dreamy Lavender Farm Day Trip

Step Back in Time at Hi Way 101 Diner Nestled in the heart of our bustling city lies a gem that transports you straight to the fabulous '50s—Hi Way 101 Diner. It's not just a place to eat; it's an experience wrapped in nostalgia and served with a side of history. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere captivates you. The checkerboard floors, the classic jukebox tunes, and the memorabilia adorning the walls are a feast for the senses. It's like stepping onto the set of "Grease," and you half expect the Pink Ladies and T-Birds to waltz in at any moment. The food? It's the cherry on top of this retro sundae. Classic diner fare that's hearty, flavorful, and leaves you satisfied in that home-cooked-meal kind of way. The staff, with their beaming smiles and attentive service, add to the authenticity of the experience. They're not just serving food; they're ambassadors of the era, and they do it with grace and charm. Hi Way 101 Diner is more than just a restaurant; it's a slice of Americana that keeps the spirit of the '50s alive and kicking. Whether you're a nostalgia enthusiast or just in search of a good meal, this diner is a must-visit spot that promises an amaizing experience with every visit. So, grab your leather jacket, slick back your hair, and get ready to rock 'n' roll at this delightful blast from the past!

Great little themed place to eat! Wasn't sure where to eat being our first night in Sequim. Seen a sign out by the road that advertised ribs and prime rib for dinner plus the 50s theme building caught our attention. The cut of prime was only 10oz and the ribs were pork ribs and not a lot came with either. So I ventured into the menu and tried there nachos with their said be house made chips. It was a large portion but my chips were definitely stale and extra chewy. Unless that's the way their chips turn out. My wife had fish and chips she enjoyed her meal. We also ordered breaded zucchini for an appetizer. Oddly though once our entree came out they dropped our food and bill and never came back to to check on us. We were wanting more service. That must be how it goes...

My husband and I brought our 3 kids and 2 dogs here for brunch. It is NOT dog friendly. Unless you enjoy getting heat stroke while you wait. We came here bc it said there was outdoor seating - it’s just the plastic picnic tables in the full sun. We were greeted kindly by a friendly waitress who brought us cold water immediately. The umbrella was broken and our waitress said someone would come help fix it or swap it with the other table (in even more sun). no one did. My daughter and I have a medical condition called dysautonomia and heat triggers it, so after about 20 min of roasting and starting to get dizzy and have heart palpitations I asked my son to help me get the other umbrella so we could try to make it work and have more shade. By the time we got back to our table our waitress came running out looking very upset and worried and saying that her boss said we cannot move the unbrella. I asked if we could just trade it for the broken one so it would actually open all the way and shade us and she said he told her no. I was super confused and thought I must be misunderstanding due to brain fog setting in and was trying to explain that I have a medical condition and was feeling unwell but then her boss came out - this old man was red faced and yelling about how we can’t move the umbrellas, totally ballistic. He proceeded to yank the umbrella out of my hands and yelled in my face that if we didn’t like it we could go somewhere else. He stormed off and threw the umbrella down on the other outdoor table and huffed himself back inside. Our waitress was so upset and kept apologizing before going back inside. I was in such shock, I’ve never been treated so poorly at a restaurant I was planning to spend quite a lot of money at. My kids were very upset and my middle daughter who was also not feeling well due to overheating was almost in tears asking to leave because she thought he would come back and yell at us again or hurt someone. We only stayed bc our kids were so hungry they couldn’t handle going somewhere else. The food was mediocre and overpriced. My husband said his burger was good - “must be the hate it was made with” to make us all laugh. The waitress was really nice and provided excellent service but couldn’t do anything about the outdoor situation or her wackadoodle boss. She deserves a better boss, we all feel bad for her as he’s clearly verbally and psychologically abusive and just a terrible person all together. Between the heat and the stress of this situation I’ve spent the few hours since trying to recover but unfortunately having a very bad episode with heart palpitations, chest pain, dizziness, nausea and not being able to stand without getting so light headed I start to faint. I can’t go on the planned shaded hike with my family or play at the beach or even ride in the car without getting very sick. I just hope I don’t wind up in the hospital tonight. So yeah, this dude ruined my day and possibly entire weekend over control of an umbrella, so ridiculous and rude. I DO...

WARNING!!!!! EVEN IF YOU DON’T EAT ANY OF YOUR MEAL BECAUSE IT WAS NOT EDIBLE, THEY WON’T REFUND YOU!

My husband and I went in for dinner and got an appetizer sampler which was great! We loved it! Then we ordered our burgers. That’s where things went south. We got the Louie Louie burger and upon arrival, the buns were stale and the fried onions on it were stale and had NO flavor so we had to peel them off of our burger, which also took 90% of our cheese with it. I took ONE bite of my burger, chewed it, and spit it out because it was so gross! The server came over after my husband had eaten half his burger (his was also gross but he hadn’t eaten all day so he choked it down as he didn’t want to wait for a food remake either and we wanted to get home asap) and asked if everything was okay and then we told her our issues with the food and she asked if we wanted it remade. I told her no thank you, and that we would just like a refund on the burger because I didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes for food and that I’d like to get home (and who knew if it was gonna be any better?!). Then she offered us a free dessert and I again, declined. I don’t want dessert for dinner or a $6 replacement for my $15 burger. So I asked if I was going to get a refund and she said no and that THEIR POLICY is that IF WE OFFER TO REMAKE IT OR OFFER A FREE DESSERT, WE CAN’T REFUND YOU.

That’s right. Even if your food is SO inedible that you SPIT OUT the first bite, you still get to pay for it because they offered a dessert and offered to remake your nasty meal with the same stuff they made the first nasty meal with. This policy is also not stated ANYWHERE or told to you before ordering.

The fries were also undercooked. I wish I had taken a picture of my FULL plate but they were rather quick to “get this out of my way”.

They also said they’d call the cops on me if I didn’t pay for the food I didn’t eat. They do not care about their customers at all and obviously know their food is SO BAD, they refuse to...

Location: right on the main strip not hard to find looks simple yet nice. The inside looks nice but they definitely need to update the seating for adults. Lol

Cleanliness : from what I could tell, it was very clean inside. When I arrive there they were in the process of cleaning the bathrooms. They took a little long in cleaning it, but it was clean. So no problem.

View: it was very simply simple. The seating seems to be a little outdated. You have to be pretty short to sit in the seats. It was kind of old school or not how you imagine most old school restaurants. It was very relaxing though to be in there and enjoy some good food.

Taste: the food was good. I enjoyed my food I would go back to try something different in the future.

Blue cheese burger: I tried their blue cheese burger and it was definitely good. It wasn't ridiculously greasy, and had a good flavor to it. The blue cheese was definitely good.

Steak fries with special sauce : OMG if I have to speak about something it would be their sauce! It was sooo good! It's some sort of mayo, ketchup sauce. It made the steak fries taste sooo good. And made the burger taste even better. Definitely try the sauce.

Service: the service was decent. They were lacking in customer service. When I asked about the sauce and if they sold it, the girl said she would find out by getting our waitress. It seemed there was a lack of leadership to a point. Whatever the job they were there for was the only job they would do it seemed. It took forever to get a waitress to get more things. They were very friendly butt either understaffed or they need to be trained to waitress a little bit better.

Overall: it could have just been that day and when I got there. If I go back towards that area I will give them another try and see how they are. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't the greatest. If I ever go back (because it is so far away) I will look forward to seeing if that was just at that time or if that is how...
