We arrived in Seward in early morning from a cruise. The owner, who works two buildings over, allowed us to store our luggage in her office so we can tour the area before our “West Room” unit was ready later in the afternoon. This place has an “IKEA” style minimalist feel. It’s very clean and has a very nice shared kitchen with a jar of cereal and some regular & decaf coffee beans. The daily housekeeping did not clean our room, they only cleaned the common areas. This is not a Bed & Breakfast B&B we’re used to. There is no host-family living onsite, so there is no home cooked breakfast where guests gather, share travel tips, etc., and no home baked cookies waiting for us after a day of trekking. The entrance to the building is loose gravel (not paved) so making wheeling suitcases to the door impossible. Our unit has a small sitting room, a bedroom and bath, but no closet and no dressers — so be prepared to live out of your suitcases during your stay here.||We met the couple staying upstairs from our West Room unit. During our brief friendly chat, they said that they can hear every word we’re saying downstairs, and we were just talking at a normal volume sitting on the sofa. We told them when they walk around upstairs sounds like someone’s rearranging furniture! We all agreed that the walls are really thin...
Read moreWe don't like being negative, but have to be honest about our experience. We had reservations in Fall 2024 but ultimately did not stay. In our opinion the accommodations were not accurately advertised. For example, the shared kitchen was not clearly disclosed in the room description pics (looks like it is part of the room), or the "size" of the East Room sitting room (which is just a narrow entrance hallway and a small couch). The view is mainly a wall of a building next door, and some mountains over the top of the building in the distance, not to mention a view of some of the neighbors next door through their windows. Further, when we arrived during the stated check in time the entrance door was ajar, the room not fully cleaned, and the cleaning person barefoot sitting on the deck. And be careful of the window that falls out when you open it to cool off from no a/c that also came with a dog barking and some car alarms in the distance. After several attempts to contact the booking agent/owner all concerns were dismissed. Finally, when the owner says to her employee "nothing will make this guy happy" right in front of you, you realize it's time to move on. Feel free to stay there, but just beware it may not be what you...
Read moreThe place is very clean and the location is outstanding but there are a few things that you should realize that this is not a traditional B&B setup. Breakfast is self serve. Food is available for you to make in a well appointed kitchen. We only did cereal and coffee but there were eggs and bacon in the fridge. There were other open container food items in the fridge and in the cabinets but no way to tell what was other peoples food and what was there for guests. There is no AC so expect the rooms to be hot when the temps rise outside. We were in the West room and while we had a view from one large window, it was limited. There is no closet or furniture draws to put anything, so you'll live out of the suitcase. The room was loud. You can hear every foot step from the room above and people in the kitchen. Lastly, expect to have no interaction with the host and little to no communication from them. That said we would probably rent here again, but in...
