TLDR; Lectured by delivery driver because they couldn't call and tell me it was too late/close to closing for a delivery.
Have been loyal to this store since we moved to the area roughly 2 years ago. Food has always been fresh and tasted good. Tonight found a chicken bone sliver in my pizza. As an adult, it wouldn't be a big deal from the size, but a child would have some issues with it. This was not the worst part of my experience tonight. We usually LOVE our Vocelli drivers. Courteous, have change, joke around and have great demeanors.
I work overnights. Sometimes I will make sure to wake up early enough to order something for food, instead of making a trip to the store. Hours are listed until 10p, I submitted my order at 9:37p. If I receieved a phone call telling me it was too late for a delivery, I would have accepted it. Tonight I had an older gentleman deliver my order. Our dog ran past my roommate and jumped to say high. We ushered her back inside and I closed the door, apologizing for her behavior. I signed the receipt and the driver asked to speak with me for a moment.
Expecting him to make a comment about the dog, I said sure, ready to apologize again. He began lecturing me on the store's closing routine. He claimed that they had already cleaned and closed the kitchen at 9:30, and that they had the right to refuse my order. I told him I understood that, and I wouldn't have been mad if they did that. Instead, he spent 10 minutes lecturing me outside my door about Vocelli's corporate not willing to pay overtime. How the computer in Greentree doesn't allow two way communication when I place an online order.
I apologized and told him I worked for Domino's in the past. We could not fully shut down kitchen until closing time, in case we had walk-in orders. He told me repeatedly that from now on, I should call and order by 9:20, and he would walk my order down to my address? He also repeatedly mentioned how he drives home the two female employees without any pay. I told him that is sweet, but it wasn't relevant. I kept telling him they should have called me and canceled my order, that would have been acceptable! He just emphasized over and over about how 'well we were ready for closing BUT we STILL MADE YOUR ORDER'.
It might not help, but I will be calling the store tomorrow morning in hopes to speak to the owner about this man's inappropriate conduct. 10:40p this review stands at 2 stars, I will edit/update the review and stars after my conversation with management.
UPDATE/EDIT:
Sam handled things very well, apologized for the behavior. I still love the food and enjoy all the drivers we get, just a bad experience! Hopefully no one else has to deal with...
Read moreVocelli's went above and beyond and everything was excellent. I called Vocelli's from another state with a request to deliver two pre-paid pizzas to my elderly parents who gather with some friends for an informal cocktail hour at their retirement home. Their anniversary was the next day so I wanted to surprise them with pizza. The person who took the order at Vocelli's and the delivery person went above and beyond to make everything special. The delivery girl called me and gave me a report of how the delivery went and my parents and friends said the pizza was fabulous. I cannot say enough about a business who will go the extra mile for customers. A few places I called wouldn't even help me. I can't wait to be back in Sewickley and go...
Read moreRoma's was closed so I ordered against my better judgement. Took an hour to get a pizza, an order of bread sticks and a 2l of pop. They forgot the pop and the extra sauce I paid for plus my pizza was cold. Called and they said they'd remake it and get it here hot in 45 mins. It's been 45 mins it's still not here and I'm willing to bet it's gonna be cold when it does get here. I've got a fiver saying they forget my 2l of pop again.
Update: took 55 mins 2 get my remade order. I owe someone a fiver cause they actually brought the pop this time around. That's the nicest thing I can say. Pizza was...
