Ken's Cozy Cafe — Restaurant in Shelby Charter Township

So I'm waiting for my truck to come out of the shop this morning....I decide to come to this cafe to have breakfast while I wait. I order, wait and then I get my food. I've been here long enough to eat most of my meal. It's a very small cafe so you can see EVERYTHING! I notice the manager walking around doing table touches and talking with the guests. He walked to every table and checked on them and had a short conversation. As he's walking, he's also picking up dishes from the tables. When he gets enough dishes, he walks them to the back and then picks up where he left off on the tables. Not on purpose, I locked eyes with this guy about 3 times as he's walking through the diner. I thought nothing of it. I thought to myself, that's how you take care of your customers and get them to come back. (I've been in sales and customer service most of my life so I pick up on things like that) to my surprise this same manager walks right by my table without saying a word to me or picking up my dishes. Being a server in the past, I always group my dishes and silverware as I finish my food to make it easy for the server to pick up. I even scoot the dishes to the edge of the table. I can't understand why he walked by my dishes after collecting dishes from everyone else in the diner???? I also wonder why he didn't ask how my meal was??? How come he didn't ask how my day was going like everyone else??? I say nothing, just keep watching....as I locked eyes with him about two more times, he finally comes over and asks if I'm ok and that's it! Nothing more, nothing less. I don't understand people in the world today. I don't believe I come off as a non sociable or rude person. After my experience at Bozek's Market last week, I was flabbergasted at what I experienced here today. WHY WHY WHY IS WHAT I'M ASKING???? WHY IS IT ACCEPTABLE TO TREAT...

Years ago when I lived closer to this establishment, my husband and I would come here to eat breakfast because he liked the sausage. The food is good, not amazing, but very good overall. The service is ok but not amazing as well. When a friend of mine who I had not seen in years let me know she recently moved near this restaurant, I offered to meet her here to visit and show her a decent restaurant in her area. We met here and both ordered breakfast. Since we had not seen each other in years, we stayed there and caught up. We were there for exactly 2 hours and 15 minutes. I planned on leaving an extra large tip for being there longer than usual, ( I have never stayed there past a normal amount of time before this) however, upon checking out, what may be a manager or the owner along with a waitress began criticizing us for staying too long. They said we were there for 3 hours when we were not, they went on and on arguing with us about how we stayed there too long, taking up a table when there were others waiting. However, honestly, I was enjoying my visit with my friend and I never saw a line. They beyond rude, and were basically harassing us. I let them know I do believe is the cost of operating a restaurant. I had never done this before and planned on giving a higher tip, etc. I do not make a habit of overstaying my welcome and I do mot believe it is ever ok to treat your loyal customers so poorly. So...

Food was pretty good, seemed clean. I would have given 4 stars but the manners and interactions with the employees were pathetic. Im seriously thinking 3 stars were more then generous. If this was based on just attitudes i wouldnt have given a 1. Our waitress was pretty good as far as service as she did ask a few times if everything was ok but seriously no emotion or friendliness. We did still tip well. The waitress (that was someone else) that came to our table reached her hand over our table to hand us hot sauce and told us to give her the other hot sauce never said excuse me, please, or thank you. The lady that checked us out asked us how everything was but didnt say thank you or im glad u enjoyed the food..she said absolutely nothing else after we said it was pretty good. No one smiled or seemed friendly and my cousin who was with us that often eats there said they are always like that...i asked my cousin why she still goes their she says bc they have good salads/food. Im sorry but i will never go there again bc of the cold attitudes.. This should be corrected immediately because...
