Just a great restaurant with nice, attentive staff, great food, and a polished atmosphere. In a very unassuming location, too. Who would have known such a jewel would be here, in the far corner of the plaza next to a pet store selling bunnies, tigers and fish - oh my! (Ok, no tigers, just an old parrot named Buddy.) Anyways…
The buffet food was fresh and warm and filling. Even the pakoras were crispy and hot, not chewy and dry like other buffets who leave them out so long. And there were so many non-veg options - and not just chicken, either! The goat karahi had that mildly gamey flavor and succulent tenderness that chefs kiss really makes it special. And for some reason their kheer (with plump golden raisins) and warm gulab jamun taste better than other places. Even that one in Troy that always tries to kurry your favor wink. (They’re good too though, especially their chikoo shakes.) They also surpass other places around metro Detroit when it comes to their tandoori chicken, too. Each piece is large, juicy, full of flavor and bone-chewing good.
Also, is it just me or do you also love when a restaurant has nice white table cloths with a layer of doodle-able paper on top? No one offers me crayons when I go out to eat anymore, but luckily I brought my own drawing utensils for the buffet today!
And I’m also going to give a shout out to the womens bathroom, too. Yeah, that’s right. It is too often nowadays that you see bathrooms with no paper towel, and then no sanitary way to exit the room without touching the door handle. I’m tired of having to air dry my hands below an anti-vacuum then dirty them up again on the pull-handle door that no one put a foot-pull opener on. But here, they have real paper towel and a very conveniently placed dustbin right next to the door so you can toss away the used towel when you exit, rather than trying to lob it into a can 7 feet away. And another thing! I love that they have plain liquid hand soap. Ya know, real soap. Not foaming soap that minimizes the effort one has to contribute in order to actually remove the germs and clean their hands. Did America’s desire and epic quest for convenience really have to make washing one’s hands “easier”? There isn’t even any foam left after singing the full abc song. Oh ok, fine. Rant over. Anyways, I am so glad we found New Little India. It may be our new little place to go for great food, great service, and buffet prices no one else can beat. Not even those that think they are char-mazing. Hopefully they will have some palak...
Read moreI've been trying to find an Indian/ South Asian buffet since I arrived last fall. Finally found one and it's open on weekends, too. I like the buffets because, while I've enjoyed everything I've eaten from the area, I'm still very weak on the names of the various dishes because many of the restaurants I've visited (in FL) were lax on labeling. The booths and tables here all have tablecloths & and butcher paper, glassware & cloth napkins. A good start, imo. Service is first-rate, friendly & polite, while remaining professional throughout. The buffet itself (Fri-Sun) is laid out nicely, everything labeled clearly & professionally, not hand-written signs. The chicken curry was delicious, a solid amount of spices without being overwhelming to newbies. The goat kohlari (watch for bones in goat dishes) was very good. Also tried a bit of the butter chicken, not something I normally order but many do. It was slightly sweet, with plenty of subtle flavor. (I like spicy, folks, and hot) Tried the sag paneer, too. An occasional dish for me, at best. It was tasty with a toasty note in there somewhere. Some of the naan that sat out was a bit dried out but any bread would be if uncovered. I got fresh the second trip and it was soft & delicious. The staff were friendly and polite, refilling my water when low, always asking first, then leaving me to dine in peace. Music played softly in the background, loud enough to hear but quiet enough to talk at an appropriate volume. Perfect, in other words. On a return visit (6/25) I found the menu to be vast. Well laid-out with great descriptions. Ordered the vindaloo (thank you, Dave Lister 😁). It was marvelous! Choice of naan or rice, I went naan. Top notch. I'll be back...

The comment above was written 9 months ago. Our last visit is the reason why I'm giving them 1 star and probably not going back and it's a shame because this was our favorite Indian food restaurant. We started out with not being greeted for 15 minutes..very unusual so we didn't think too much of it. Then she finally took our orders and then we got our appetizer and this is where it went all down hill. We been waiting for 45 minutes for our food and it wasn't busy and tables that got there way after us already had their food. I was a server before so I knew right then that they forgot to put our food in. The manager came up to us and we told him that we are still waiting for our food and he said oh its coming now we are waiting for rice. I wanted to say so the other tables got the rice before us???? The first thing they put on our table is the rice. Then 5 minutes later the food came. They messed up on my boyfriends and they let him keep it and they brought the "correct" one and it wasn't what he ordered. Then the server told him he was WRONG and started arguing with him. It was an absolute mess. And for them to not man up and tell us they screwed up from the beginning and trying to hide that they forgot to put it in, they started blaming us. We will never be coming back and...
