Lanna Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Shelby Charter Township

Coming from SoCal and moving to the area, I was determined to find a Thai restaurant that can meet the standards of my old favorite restaurant. Let me just say, the Basil Fried Rice with Shrimp 🤌🏼👌🏼Soooo good! They do not skimp on the shrimp, it isn't dried up and sad... such good shrimp portions! The fried rice is flavorful (got it mild) and the rice is perfectly balanced with the seasonings. Not even a single dry rice!

Also, I ordered the Taro Milk Tea! Bless you for doing it properly with the right whisk. It doesn't settle and get chunky bits. This is now my go-to for treating myself as often as I can.

I've had the Pad Thai here with chicken as well. It is really good! But this fried rice. mmmm...

I highly recommend! If you order to pick-up on DoorDash, don't wait for the app to tell you to get it. Place your order and in about ten, fifteen minutes, it'll be ready and very hot when you get home. Bc they line the container with foil to keep your food hot. They really think about...

Only eaten here 2 times before this - however 3rd times a charm I guess. They were pretty passive aggressive on the phone when I was speaking about how I needed a menu item to be” fish allergy proof”(mind you I’ve eaten here before and they were ok with substituting fish sauce in the drunken noodle) two different people spoke to me and proceeded to tell me they couldn’t do it, when I explained that they’ve done it for me in the past she said “ok we will do it”…needless to say I’m regretful I continued my order looking past their lack of enthusiasm to make our food, I end up getting the food and eating - not only was the drunken noodle wreaking of fish, there was a black HAIR buried in between my dish, I kid you not - I am absolutely DISGUSTED. So difficult to overlook this and assume it was an accident considering the attitude given to me on the phone. That sums up the end of Lanna...

Let it first be said, that I love spicy food, and I love food with great flavors. Lanna Thai delivers both in spades (My friends, if you ask for spicy, you'll get it, but its not painful as opposed to balanced). Very friendly and prompt service along with a finished product.

The first bite sold me as this being one of the hidden gems of the Shelby Township area, and I can't wait to try the rest of their menu.

Followup in 2025: Their shrimp rolls are amazing! Tom Yum Goong? Also excellent, but I wish there were chilis as well. Pad Krapow was spot on though, ordered hot, got hot. They're no frills, but provide flavor. If they close, I'll be moving, because having a place like this is...
