Located on Hwy 74 (Dixon Blvd.), It's a smallish place - 12 booths seating 4 around the perimeter of the dining room with rows of tables that accommodate larger parties - but their way of serving moves things along pretty quick.
You enter the room and order from a lady sitting at a table at the entrance. Then, you pay for the food at the cashier and get your number to which someone brings the drinks and food. . Yes, they had watermelon for sale, as well as single slices of cake and T-shirts. 3 flat screen TVs surround the room (all showing NASCAR while we were there) with Christian related art on the walls.
Catfish is what we came for and we got more than we bargained for. Normally, at least in this area, a "large" catfish is 3 fish, a regular is 2.
When ordering, you specify the size of the fish you want - small, medium or large - along with the quantity. We both went medium sized.
So our large order of medium-sized fish were 6 (six!) fish, plus hushpuppies, crinkle fries and slaw for $12.
When you taste the sweet tea and it's made like a good Southern sweet tea should be made, there is hope on how this fish is going to taste. Man, this fish was outstanding! Breading was more of a flour and egg wash than cornmeal. Fish meat was flaky but firm.
In short, this is the best catfish I've had in this state since moving here 20 years ago.
Oh, and neither of his finished the plate. We await the...
Read moreWhere do we start with a place that advertises Jesus and then makes jokes about cheating on their wives to strangers. Well let's start out with the food. It was bland all of it except for the slaw. I ordered scallops that not only were bland but tasted off. At first I thought it was just the breading flavor so I asked for ranch to dip it in after about 8 minutes i got up to get it. Nope it was the scallops so I stopped eating them. My husband ordered shrimp and catfish. He got his catfish about ten minutes after he got the rest of his food. The sides that I did eat ran right through me so I went to the bathroom and my husband went up to pay the bill after asking for to go bags. So what did they do? They threw away our drinks and food. Then refused to take money off the bill and insisted that we stay and they would make more. It wasn't good to begin with I was going to take it home and remove the breading and try and fix it. So we paid $32 for fries hush puppies slaw 3 scallops and some ity bitty deep fried shrimp. I'm all about supporting local businesses but not ones that...
Read moreFood was delicious but don't like the setup. It was our first time going here because we just moved here so we thought it was like any normal restaurant. We walked in stood there waiting for someone to greet us but nobody said a word so I had to ask some random person what to do because no sign telling you. The lady told me to go over to a lady sitting at a table she took order and told us to go to register and pay so we did that then was told to sit anywhere and to put my 18 sign on table. Ok so we thought we was good. BTW when I paid it ask for a tip I didn't give because I'm not giving a tip and then have terrible service. After a wait the cook bought our food and said we had to get everything else we need a our drinks. Nobody never came back to check on us. And you are asking for tips well work and maybe you'll get some because I love tipping my server if they...
