This review is specific to the Tumbleweed Restaurant in Shelbyville, Kentucky. I've posted reviews of other Tumbleweed locations as well. They're not all the same.
Tumbleweed offers a menu featuring " Tex-Mex" cuisine. It isn't really Mexican food, but similar in many ways. If you're looking for more authentic Mexican food, go to one of the places where the staff (and some of the patrons) speak Spanish.
We've been customers of a number of Tumbleweed restaurants for more than forty years and we like what they have to offer.
Like most Tumbleweeds, this location offers a full bar, table service and carry-out. The menu includes a variety of choices including "Tex-Mex" style fare as well as steaks, sandwiches, salads, side dishes and desserts.
Seating is available at tables and booths. Food is also served at the bar, and outdoor seating is available in season.
This is our favorite Tumbleweed by far.
The staff are friendly, efficient and courteous. Food is consistently good, and a manager almost always visits the table to say hello and assure that everything is to our satisfaction.
The facility is consistently clean and we'll maintained, including the restrooms.
Plenty of free parking. The entrance is on the side of the building opposite the roadway, on what would appear to be the back side. Slightly confusing at first, but very convenient to the parking lot.
The entire facility appears to be wheelchair accessible.

Read moreWe can't understand why, in all the years we've lived in Shelbyville, we haven't been here until now. We've been missing out. The menu selection is refreshingly diverse, the food was delicious, and our waiter, Darian, was absolutely outstanding. He was attentive friendly, knowledgeable, helpful with suggestions and personable without being weird about it, lol.
Little details like the candle stand to keep the queso warm and the quickly replenished bowl of chips really added something special to our experience. Speaking of the Chile con Queso - wow. That was really, really good. And they serve the thin chips that we both really prefer.
Everything was prompt and tasty, made just how you'd hope, and the bill was quite reasonable. We got the Chile con Queso, a buffalo chicken wrap and a massive margarita to share along with the chips and salsa for $32.
The decor was... interesting, but appropriate for the theme. (We were a little taken aback that there's indoor smoking available, but the non-smoking section was plenty far removed that it didn't affect anything.)
We will definitely be back here, a lot....
Read moreMy family and I rarely get a chance to go out to dinner. We chose this place because it seemed casual, which is more of our style . We were seated next to a table that had a big mess of food and trash on the floor. We had to wait 20 minutes to put our food order in. After waiting 45 minutes, I asked the manager to check on our order . She never returned with an answer. Instead, she sent another waitress to tell us it would be another 10 MINUTES. At this point, I'm very annoyed. Once our food came to the table, the burger was cold and not correct. It took us another 10 minutes to get the waitress' attention. We told her about the issue, and we didn't get one apology. She offered to order another one but I informed her we're not going to wait another hour. I would avoid this place. Jasmyne needs some retraining on customer service and the manager does too. Overpriced...
