I was really happy to see something open up in the spot of the Captain D's that never opened. Gave them some time to get on their feet before I went in to try it out. Ordered two 10 piece baked wings, two sides, one sweet tea and one banana pudding. Total was around 52 bucks for everything, just absolutely ridiculous. The sides were the smallest possible cup imaginable, maybe 6 oz cups? 8 oz at the max. The wings were decently sized and we're pretty good. No complaints on the quality of that. The sides were ridiculously small and nothing special at all. The coleslaw was maybe four bites worth, same with the mac and cheese and banana pudding. Four bites, at a dollar a bite is never going to fly long-term. Chicken wings at that price are ridiculous, there's no reason for them to be that much.
One case of chicken wings bought commercially is around 115 bucks. That's 200 wings in a case. At ¢.57 a wing that breaks down to about $5.70 for a 10 piece. There's no need to charge over $11 for a 10 piece. You're absolutely just robbing people. Maybe it flies in Prospect but it's never going to last long-term in Shelbyville. Really a shame because I was looking forward to being a regular customer here and having a place like locally long term. They just artificially priced themselves out of any business for me and most of the people I've spoken...
Read moreWent to Waldo’s for the first time this evening. We ordered 2 chicken sandwiches and a quarter chicken plate. The customer service was decent, no complaints. We waited around 20 mins for our food which wasn’t bad at all. When our food came out, we received 1 sandwich. Then the other 2 plates came out at a different time. I personally had the quarter white chicken plate. My chicken was fresh out of the fryer. I ordered Mac n cheese with collard greens. I give the chicken a 4/5. It was well breaded and steaming hot the whole time I ate it. It was under salted but I’m assuming that is for people who can’t consume as much salt because of health conditions. My sides weren’t even lukewarm. They were cold. They were so cold that I put them to the side, ate my chicken and went back to try them again and the temperature of my sides hadn’t changed. Really disappointing because it’s like they threw my sides on a plate before they even cooked my chicken. The cheddar biscuit just tasted like dough so I didn’t finish that. It was VERY SMALL in there. I was going to get a spiked slushie but, the slushie machine wasn’t even working. We waited a few weeks after opening to try it. The AC was blasting in the dining room, which was unnecessary.
They have potential. I’ll wait a few months and...
Read moreWent there for the first time thought I would try it, $39 for 2. Six piece, chicken, tender meals, and two banana puddings . Of course we asked for extra sauce and they wanted to charge us like spending $39 on two meals isn’t enough. Second off, the chicken tenders were like extremely greasy, and extremely little there was no crispiness and no flavor. The only sauce that was decent was the ranch, the macaroni and cheese was OK if you salt and peppered it. Didn’t get french fries thank God they would’ve been greasy too. I’m sure. And the roll was teeny tiny like one of those miniature muffins and it was sweet I thought it was like a biscuit.. I won’t be going back because first off their prices are absolutely ridiculous and it will not last long in this area, we have Bojangles and we have Zaxby’s that blow this away. We have KFC, but it’s hit or miss. The chicken tenders that Hucks Gas station sells blows these chicken tenders away. They are big and juicy and crispy and they have a great flavor and this is a gas station.. Do better, your prices are way too high for this quality of food...
