I'll be honest, when I go to teriyaki places all I'm interested about is the chicken, beef and katsu. I've stopped getting beef cause it always tastes and looks too thin and dry (slathering it in sauce doesnt help) So this used to be one of my favorite places because the katsu they had was pretty bomb. That all changed a few months ago when they either got new management or fired their cooks because they were not on top of their game and we had to wait almost an hour for our food, which ended up being mediocre, while other customers just straight up left after waiting too long or being told they didn't have a specific menu item. But since it's been a few months I decided to give this place another chance, assuming they'd have gotten back on track. But man was I disappointed. The katsu I used to love tasted so bland I shed a manly tear. Thought I could use the katsu sauce, the half a cup they gave me, to give it some flavor but holy god the sauce tasted and looked so watered down that for a moment I thought I was given teriyaki sauce by mistake. Now I could come back another day and give it a second chance but honestly I dont feel inclined to do so. I'd rather make myself a disappointing sandwich at home, at least I'd know it was...
Read moreThe food itself was okay, but the service was terrible and left a really bad impression.
When I placed my order, I said “please” and “thank you,” but the server never said a single word to me and just stared blankly. No greeting, no “enjoy your meal,” no check-in after a few minutes. Instead, he spent the time scrolling on his phone while ignoring me, even though the place was nearly empty.
While I was on the phone with my family about an emergency, I was told to “be quiet” because I was “disturbing customers.” There were only two other people in the restaurant at the time (waiting for takeout), and they didn’t even seem to notice me. I was speaking at a normal volume.
I spent $30 on mediocre food and was met with the worst service I’ve had in a long time. I wanted to support a small business, but this was such a disappointing experience. I won’t be coming back unless there’s a change in staff. Seems like not many people are...
Read moreThis place used to be called Asian Palette and it was THE BEST teriyaki in the Seattle area. The chicken teriyaki didn’t go on the grill until you ordered. You could actually watch that from the counter. It was so fresh, tender, moist and delicious. We were addicted, eating there (or getting take-out) weekly…it was actually our Monday night thing! Then, a few years ago, they changed the name to Kobe Bento (and they perhaps changed owners too…I don’t know). Well, shortly after, the quality took a nose dive. We still ate there regularly, mostly because it was so close to home and we do LOVE teriyaki. Well, for the past 6 months at least, every chicken teriyaki meal has been tough and dry. Finally I am putting my foot down and refusing to go there anymore. It is clear that every piece of chicken teriyaki is precooked and allowed to sit in a warmer all day. It’s just not worth it. Time to search for a new...
