This place is absolutely gas, fire, bussin or whatever kids say for phenomenal now a days.
First off shout out to Ben the manager for being friendly, professional, down to earth, patient, and very helpful helping us out as first time diners.
My wife and I came in for a lunch date, after having this place on our radar since they opened.
There is a great atmosphere, the service is excellent and the food is delicious.
We got a total of six tacos, queso, and two drinks. Next time we will probably do two tacos each, as we thought they would be street taco size, but they are eight inch tortillas. We spent a total of 72.63.
I fully understand that that taste is absolutely subjective, these are simply based off my wife and I's combined opinion on each item.
Queso - This was some of the best queso we've ever had. This isn't standard queso you get everywhere else. It's as authentic as you can get, we highly recommend it.
Democrat - This was ok, we felt the barbacoa lacked flavor, it was flat. If it was seasoned this would have been way better. This definitely let me down, compared to barbacoa elsewhere. 5.7/10
Crossroads - This was my favorite. It was an absolute flavor bomb, this is one I would get again and again. 9.5/10
Tipsy Chick - Another flavor bomb for your taste busts to work out. It is flavorful, slightly spicy, sweet, the bacon bourbon marmalade was the cherry on top. 8.3/10
Trailer Park - This is a safe choice, it was good, nothing to write home to mom about, however was still good, and I would get it again. 7.8/10
Green Chile Pork - This was my wife's favorite, and my second favorite, and my second favorite. It was full of flavor, seasoned well, juicy, and the flavors melded together perfectly. 9.1/10
My wife had the frozen sangria swirl margarita, and it was very good. 8.5/10
I had the Camarena Cooldown, and holy tequila whoever made our drinks didn't go lightly. It was delicious and refreshing. 9.0/10
Overall I would rate this an 8.7/10 and will...
Read moreSeems like dining in is the way to go here! Saw a lot of promotions for this place so we thought we'd give it a try. Went on a Sunday evening just before the dinner hour, the place was pretty packed but the service was quick and food came out faster than I expected. Interior of the restaurant was modern and casual and they had a full-service bar which gave it a different vibe from your usual fast casual taco joints. Only issue was the fact that they were out of quite a few tacos that we were definitely looking forward to trying! But from what I was able to order, the tacos were fantastic. They are definitely a little more pricey than your normal individual tacos, but they were all packed full of flavor. Two or three should get you there. Definitely give the chips and guac a try! Guacamole was on the same level as chipotle in my opinion (I worked there once and made the guac so I'm biased lol). Never been a huge queso fan, but still tried it anyways and it was nothing too crazy, just your typical queso. The first taco I tried was "Mr. Orange" which included a perfectly cooked tiny filet of blackened salmon. Second, was the "Tipsy Chick" which was by far my favorite taco. It includes a bacon bourbon marmalade that cleverly compliments the taco filling by creating a perfect balance of sweet and savory, which not something I often care for. Lastly I tried the "Crossroads" since I love brisket. The first bite of each taco was just a burst of flavor. This is of course is the measure of a great taco. Overall, the food and service both knocked it out the park. I WILL definitely be coming back to hopefully get the tacos they were sold out of and perhaps reorder some of...
Read moreI took my boyfriend and my 4-year-old to Torchy's Tacos to see what it was about. This was our second attempt. The first attempt was a few weeks prior - the line to order was very long, no seating because it was packed, waited over an hour for our food, finally went up to the counter to check on our food and they told us that many other people were still waiting who ordered before us. We went to the manager, got a refund, and left.
Second attempt - line to order was much shorter. My 4-year -old ordered the kid's quesadilla and she ate it up like a champ. They also gave her some crayons and paper menu to color. I ordered the vegetarian taco "mofaux " with the Poblano sauce and it was quite nice. My boyfriend ordered the beef fajita taco and he said that it tasted very good. We all split chips with green chili queso.
Overall, it was ok. The food was good but you are paying over $6 for one taco. The food to cost ratio is not proportional, in my opinion. For the size of the taco versus the cost, you should get at least 2 tacos, if not 3.
Was it good? Yes Was it worth it? Not really Would I go back? If my friends/family/work wanted to get something there, then yes. I would not go out of my way to go back though since I feel I am not getting my money's worth. I'll just go to a Mexican restaurant instead.
My actual rating is more...
