After driving more that 9 hours enroute from Colorado to Arizona it was time for a hearty meal. Cattlemen's Steakhouse is a blast from the past where thick cuts of prime rib dance with blue cheese wedge salads at long tables filled with multigenerational families and friends. We were immediately greeted with two welcome smiles and seated in less than a minute. You can immediately sense a happy place. Everyone was either full of conversation or silent as they enjoyed the course before them. Our server Laura was a pro from start to finish - happy and always one step ahead of us. Whatever happened to great service in America? Laura created such a pleasant experience for us and it was greatly appreciated after hours on the road driving and sightseeing. We started with drinks and then followed with house salads and a warm fresh baked loaf of bread. I asked what the house specialty was and Laura immediately said prime rib. So prime rib it was. We both ordered the 8 oz portion which arrived perfectly cooked along with asparagus which was the vegetable of the evening. I loved all of the options for horseradish in all of its shapes and forms. We finished the meal with a chocolate lava cake a la mode for two. Delicious! Great service by Laura, wonderful atmosphere and most importantly delicious food. If you ever find yourself in High Low be sure to check it out. GH

Perfectly Cooked Steak & a Brand-New Cocktail Lounge at Cattleman’s Steakhouse I had a great dining experience at Cattleman’s Steakhouse in Show Low. The parking lot was packed, but I easily found a seat in the bar area, which had plenty of space. My waitress was quick to take my drink order and followed up promptly for my meal. She was attentive, polite, and checked in occasionally to make sure everything was perfect. I ordered the bacon-wrapped filet mignon (medium well), and it was cooked to absolute perfection—tender, flavorful, and exactly how I wanted it. My sides, a loaded baked potato and a house salad, were fresh and satisfying. While eating, I got to overhear the owner chatting with locals at the bar. She shared that she bought the restaurant two years ago and had to fully remodel it. Just this year, they even added a brand-new cocktail lounge. They’re excited to spread the word and bring in more guests, especially as they prepare for the summer season. If you’re looking for a perfectly cooked steak and a relaxed atmosphere with friendly service, Cattleman’s is the place to go. And if you didn’t know about their new cocktail lounge, now you do—be sure to check it out! Five stars! (I’ll be sharing photos and videos of the lounge so you can see for yourself!)

I don't like to leave negative reviews, but there were just so many things off here, I can't recommend it.

Our family of 5 came in about an hour before close on a Friday, and they were pretty slow. Only about 3 other tables with customers. For drinks, we all just had water but after getting very cold, I ordered a hot chocolate with a shot of Baileys, which was delicious.

We ordered the $10 potato skins appetizer and it was underwhelming. Only the centers of the potatoes had toppings and the whole thing was dry. Just underwhelming and not really enjoyable.

My husband ordered the sirloin, which only comes in 8oz - surprising because most steakhouses offer several options, with 8 being the smallest. Good thing he wasn't very hungry that evening. The steak appeared to be unseasoned and was just...steak. Nothing special at all. Less tasty than what we make at home surprisingly.

I ordered an appetizer as my meal, the rib tips ($16), and what I received was a small bowl of very soft, almost mushy pieces of steak, maybe 5oz of steak total? I have never experienced rib tips like that before. They're usually firm pieces of meat, not falling apart like a pot roast.

One of our 3 children ordered the $20 sauteed shrimp and what he received was 5 shrimp in a small bowl of broth. Seriously, 5 medium-sized shrimp in a bowl and a side of mashed potatoes. For $20. I politely asked the server if this was correct and she said she thought so, yes. She offered to bring the manager over, but I expressed that I wasn't someone to pitch a fit and I certainly was in no mood to complain or ruin someone's night. So perhaps it's on us that we just lived with it, but I was very unhappy that we had to stop at McDonald's on the way back to our cabin because the kid was still very hungry after his meal that cost more than we would typically spend for a kid.

Our bill was over $100 before tip, and although the server did her job well, I couldn't bring myself to tip more than 18%. So when it was all said and done, we paid about $135 for a meal that no one enjoyed. (That's $27/person including the children who ordered extremely basic kids meals - ckn nuggets for one and I can't remember the other.) Our family cannot afford to spend that amount very often and when we do, I think it's reasonable to expect an enjoyable, filling meal. That's not at all what we...

If I could rate it a negative I would. Everything started out good fast seating and very friendly. The music and decor were good. Holly our waitress at this time was very friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered and my husband ordered a top sirloin steak made medium. We got our meals and his steak was ,medium rare. We ask the bus boy to get a hold of Holly our waitress. My husband explained about his steak and she took it back to the kitchen. So I start eating my meal and open up my silverware and my napkin looked like it had snot on it. Then my husband gets his steak back it is charred on the outside but is still medium rare. A few minutes later Holly checks on us and he explains that the steak is still medium rare, but he will eat it anyway. Holly goes to the manager Alysia and explains what has happened. Alysia comes over and apologizes for the steak not being cooked correctly. She explains that since he ate it she could only give us a discount. We said we appreciate that, but will not come back again. She leaves our table and shook her head. So we get our bill and my husband puts money in there to pay the bill. Just as we are walking away he realized he didn't put enough money in there, so we turned around and told Holly that we didn't put enough money in there and wanted to correct it. Holly said don't worry about it. We asked are you sure? She said yes, so we proceeded to leave. We believe she then went to the manager and told her we didn't pay our full bill. Because just as we are backing out of the parking space the manager Alysia and another worker came out. I rolled down my window and asked if everything was okay and Alysia said yes. I rolled up my window and we continued to pull out Alysia was writing down our license plate down. We went right back. I went inside and explained what happened and said I want to pay the rest of my bill. Cathy was very friendly, but did try to make excuses for what happened. I've never been treated with so much disrespect in my entire life. We will...

I don't usually leave reviews, but this place needs a warning.

I'm traveling and decided to treat myself to a steak dinner. I went in around 7:30. Service: The service was good, I was seated quickly, and they did their best to accommodate me. Atmosphere: The dining room is outdated and old and smells like dust, playing classic country that made me want to fall asleep. Appetizers: The fried zucchini was pretty good, but based off appearance I don't think it's made from scratch, so no points there. The salad was fine as you'd expect. The bread was dry, chewy and flavorless, even with butter, it tasted like they made it days ago and put it in a warmer. Meal: I got a New York strip, medium well. It looked fine on the outside albeit unseasoned, but that's it. It was awful, chewy, flavorless, and maybe a bit off, truly one of the worst steaks I've ever had. It was also rare or undercooked because it was still purple on one half, like the grill didn't have even heat, my waitress offered to put it back on the grill but that wasn't going to help the flavor or texture so I just set most of it aside. $30 for that... Dessert: Dutch apple pie. Presentation was good, but flavor was just okay. The ice cream was as good as you'd expect, but the pie was bland. Drinks: I got water at first and then decided to pair an Apothic red wine with my meal, apparently they were trying to get rid of their stock so I got a bottle for half price, silver lining.

Overall I spent $70 not including the tip for a mostly bland, over priced, and ultimately disappointing meal, I wouldn't...
