Torchy's Tacos — Restaurant in Shreveport

Me and my wife came in for a Friday night date and hoped to have a good experience, however we were treated coldly and made to feel very unwelcome. Aftering placing our order for food and drinks, paying the bill and providing a generous tip, we sat down to wait for our order to arrive. It was a Friday night, but it was early and not very busy. Regardless, we were prepared to be patient. Unfortunately, we waited more than 30 min for just our drink order while Isaiah, the bartender on duty, provided shots and drinks to delivery drivers and chatted with the bar top. After 15 min, I went to the bar to check on our drink order, Isaiah let me know he only had one clean glass and nobody to wash more. He was extremely passive aggressive, but we waited another 15 min to be courteous. Our food order arrived some time later, before our drinks were ready. We wanted to wait for our drinks before starting to eat so I turned to see if our order was staged to go out. I could hear Isaiah telling the bar top that he had completed our order but was not going to find someone to take the drinks to the table. That is no big deal to me, I don't mind picking up our drinks. But when I went over to ask if the two drinks were our order and take them to our table, I was met again with hostility. At this point it was very clear we were unwelcome in Torchys. And I asked for a refund on our food and drinks and we departed. I do not know what prompted such hostility from Isaiah. My wife and I sat at our table and talked to each other. My only interactions with Isaiah were to ask after our drink order in a "hey man, just checking in on my order" kind of way, and again to ask if the two ready drinks were ours. They only get a 2 because the food is decent, but their customer service is definitely a 1. Every single time I place an online order I end up waiting well over the pick up time, and I’m talking 15-30+ minutes over, mainly because no one ever pays attention to the customers standing in the pick up line. I thought if I started doing curbside pickup that would be better, but no. They either forget to bring out part of your order and then take their time bringing out the rest of it. Right now for instance, I placed an online order at 4:25 for a 5:00 pick up. I arrive at curbside pickup at 5:02 and do the whole “I am here” routine. At 5:11 a girl brings out only part of my order, then tells me she is going to check on the rest of it, 5 minutes later I see her clock out and leave. It is now 5:28pm and I am STILL waiting on the rest of my order even after resending the “I am here” confirmation. It’s bad enough you’ll walk in, and the employees will literally look you in the face and not say a word to you, then proceed to interact with their other customers (the bartenders are notorious for this.). They need to stop forcing tips on orders. The ONLY person who seems to ever care about quality customer service is the black dude with the raspy voice. *update: after calling into the restaurant at 5:31, someone finally brought the rest of my small order...

I used to love Torchy’s but the past two times I have gone, it has been less that superb. The last two visit being about a months a part too. Both times the guacamole was brown and not as flavorful as usual, which is sad because it’s my favorite. Also the chips were under fried and unsalted which was a bummer but I added my own salt and it was fine. Also I ordered a drink and when the runner brought the food and tried to take my number, I informed here I was waiting for a drink in which she said she would check on it, went to the bar, and then came back and told me it was ready at the bar and I could go grab it. Why would you not just bring it to me? Anyone could walk up there and grab drinks? It was just weird and lately as not been the same exceptional Torchys I know and love .

*UPDATE Went to Torchys today and they completely revamped the place with a new menu and seemingly new staff as well. The staff was super friendly and the guacamole was 10/10 the way I remember it being. The tacos were also very good and everything was perfect. Definitely keep up the good work! We love...
