I had to update this review because the manager Jose really responded well to the situation and made it right with my husband also his employee Julian always exudes outstanding customer service and is always welcoming and smiling. So thank you Jose for being a great manager of your store and really caring about your customers we greatly appreciate you and will be coming back.
If I could give a zero I would, my husband went to get us coffee we come to this location every single day for the last couple of years and the onsite manager Dom was completely unprofessional and rude. She told my husband the screen shot of my app isn't accepted as a form of scanning for the rewards I had a dollar off any large coffee. ( He went to another location in Monrovia and the screen shot was accepted and he was given the discount so incorrect by the way) When he asked her if she was the manager can you please try again and honor the discount she rudely replied I can't override it. My husband said okay I'll just pay the full amount she put the credit card machine out the window out of reach, he told her he can't reach or read the machine so when he went to hold it to scan our card she then snatched the machine from him accused my husband of being aggressive and refused him service. He said okay I will contact corporate and left. I'm beyond upset at the accusation that my husband was aggressive when he's Always beyond polite and we have Never had an issue like this in our lives. The manager Don does not exude any type of professionalism in handling customers, you don't argue with customers or give attitude and you certainly don't snatch the card machine from someone when making payment. You try and remedy the situation in a calm professional manner and you do your best to give the customer the upmost customer service. This review has Nothing to do with the location itself because the other manager Jose and the rest of his staff have exuded outstanding Customer service that's why we choose to go to this location every day. It's the manager Dom that is warranting this negative review and should be either retrained or removed from a management position all together. Unfortunately now I don't believe we will feel comfortable or safe to come back to this location...
Read moreMust Know: closing time listed is for the drive thru! (Lobby closes 9:30pm, NOT 10:30pm)
This is a beautiful, new/modern looking Coffee Bean. It’s super clean, well lit, not plagued by homeless people. And there are electric outlets galore!! Hate how Starbucks’ removes them in most stores. This is the perfect place for students (with the exception of the very early close time of 9:30pm). This is probably more of a safety reason sadly (as there are homeless wandering in the Pasadena area).
I used to go to a Starbucks in Monrovia because they closed at 10pm. So when I saw on Google maps this place closed at 10:30pm I was ecstatic. Unfortunately I learned that was for the drive thru. The lobby actually closes at 9:30pm.
But again, they really take care of the inside of this place. Comfortable chairs. A mix of bar style seating, large table seating, booth seating and even a 4-couch/chair seating area. It’s a pretty diverse mix of seating styles. Someone put some thought into the design of this store and layout. Well done!!!
The outside patio area is also well designed. Chairs/furniture are clean and not worn out. So many Starbucks locations look like they haven’t changed their furniture in 10 years (old and dilapidated).
My only gripe is the closing time (not much of a big deal, but maybe misleading to a lot of first-timers that come here) and the cold temp they keep in there at night. Understand the baristas probably are got back there but in winter time… it’s pretty chilly in there around closing time. That was even sipping with my hot coffee. The cool/white light temp makes it feel colder as well. So maybe keep a jacket handy.
Surprisingly, drink prices on par with Starbucks. I always thought coffee bean was a little more on the pricier side. But actually pretty comparable. Reg hot coffee was $2.95. Expect to pay that if you’re looking for the cheapest drink item for a multi-hour study session. They have to...
Read moreI downloaded the Too Good Too Go app because I like the concept of saving and preventing more food waste. Also the reviews were decent so I thought why not try it out. I ordered two grab bags from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in East Pasadena, CA. It was marked for $5.99 for a $15 grab bag. I got there in the beginning of the pick-up time and I had to wait over time minutes because the employees weren’t acknowledging the line inside the store. Once they finally addressed me they told me to wait over at another area because the order wasn’t ready. They never looked to see what the order was. They packed the first bag with an egg and chorizo burrito ($6.78), a vegan banana walnut bread loaf slice ($3.88) and a cookie ($3.18) totaling to $13.84. When she finally came over with the stapled bag of items, I showed her that I had two orders. She then proceeded to take the bag she had just packed, opened it, removed the cookie and placed another egg and chorizo burrito in the bag (which makes the new total to $17.44 instead of an equivalent $30 value for the two orders). I didn’t make a scene and I didn’t realize what happened until I got into my car. I can understand that there are busy times for stores but I waited patiently for them to proceed with my purchase so it just seems so weird and unnecessary for this outcome. I did reach out to the support team for Too Good Too Go but they didn’t respond back. I’m frustrated with the outcome but I’m glad that I hadn’t invested enough to make it such a terrible loss. I will not be returning to this location as well for the poor...
