We've gone to Tropical cafe A lot since it opened. The smoothies when done right are beyond compare.
We love that they use real fruit and have options to lower sugar or use substitutes. Although I wish they had a stevia or monkfruit option. The acai bowls are a delicious frozen treat.
We've tried a couple of the flat bread options and the ciabatta sandwich and they're ok but nothing remarkable. The ciabatta bread they use tastes like a high quality white bread to me more than ciabatta but it's not terrible.
When We've gone thru the drive thru the staff have always been friendly but more than once they've been unaware of how to redeem a coupon such as the ones from the receipt surveys, which isn't a huge deal but is noteworthy. When We've gone in however both at the SV location and at tucson locations We've encountered a trend of their staff avoiding greeting and assisting guests unless they are the specific. Person at the register already. What I mean is I've walked in to no staff and the first person to come out ignores me while they grab things and go back or while they work on making drinks and I've also walked in and had one person helping someone at the register while 2 or 3 other people go in and out making items and grabbing items in the prep are and none of them address anyone coming in or waiting. They have a pick up area for pick up orders but 1. It isn't obvious if you're new to it and 2. They rarely use it anyway. At the sv location the first time I went in for a pick up (my own not a dasher) i went to the register and was told to check the cubby and it was there, all good. The next time I went in but my order wasn't in the cubby so I went to the register and waited until someone finally assisted me and they told me to check the cubby but they also looked and saw it was on their side behind the cubbies where I wouldn't be able to get to it. This has happened several times but sometimes the order is on the back counter behind the register and no where near the cubbies.
I've received the entirely wrong drink once, ordered acai berry boost which is distinctly purplish color but received what I think was a pomegranate plunge as it tasted like one I've tried and was a very pale pink it was clearly not the acai tho as I've had it multiple times and it's never been pale pink.
Another time we ordered a peanut butter cup thru the drive thru and asked for extra dark chocolate, as this is how my husband always orders it and loves it. But at the window she didn't confirm the extra dark chocolate so my husband asked and she said "it already comes with dark chocolate", I explained politely we asked for extra dark chocolate and she said ok hold on and closed the window. She came back with the receipt which read Xtra peanut butter but it had a void so I thought they did Xtra peanut butter instead of Xtra chocolate and fixed it hence the void but I was wrong they hadn't done Xtra anything and added Xtra peanut butter despite her confirming out loud that we were asking for Xtra dark chocolate... it was very peanut buttery and not chocolatey my husband was disappointed but didn't want to drive back around thru the full drive thru since the minimal parking was full. We did let them know via the receipt survey and corporate did offer us a replacement item on our next visit, so I appreciate that they tried to make it right. However, ironically while I was getting my replacement drink I overheard the girl making the smoothies tell her coworker that he had forgotten to flip something over and she had been putting the wrong flavor berry in drinks all day. Which they laughed off and that was a bit concerning, even if it is relatable. They need better training.
We've had drinks done just slightly wrong a couple of times where the taste was just not quite right. But most of the time they are excellent which is why I still give it 4 stars.
I would say that it's best to order ahead when possible as it reduces the risk of human error, makes sure u get your points, and saves...
Read more⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Michael at smoothie Tropical Café, and I can’t wait to share my thoughts! I decided to try the peanut butter protein shake, and it exceeded all my expectations. The shake was perfectly blended, with a rich, creamy texture and just the right balance of peanut butter flavor that left me completely satisfied. It was not only delicious but also felt like a healthy treat, which is a huge plus for me. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. The atmosphere of the place is so inviting, with its clean and modern design, cozy seating area, and those charming green awnings that add a nice touch of character. The location itself is convenient, with plenty of parking and a drive-thru option, which is perfect for a quick stop. I also appreciated the outdoor seating area, which looked like a great spot to relax with a drink on a nice day. The service was prompt, and the overall cleanliness of the establishment was impressive. I can’t think of a single thing I’d change—it’s clear they take pride in what they do. I’m already planning my next visit to try more of their menu items, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty, healthy, and enjoyable experience. Smoothie Tropical Café has definitely earned its spot as one of my favorite go-to spots thanks to...
Read moreI will not come back. I do not want to be pressured into giving more money for no reason. Picking up food at the counter? You will be asked for a tip. Picking up food at the drive-through? Again, tip. Ordering online to pick up at the store? Again, for no reason at all, you will be asked to pay a tip. Sure, in each case it is possible (though not always obvious) to choose not to pay a tip, but we shouldn't be guilted into paying more money, for food that isn't cheap anyway, when we're not receiving tableside service from a restaurant. This is ridiculous and angering. The employees will make innocuous statements like, "And now it (the payment device) will ask you a question," because there's no less awkward way of informing a customer that the company is asking for more money--for no reason. I want to trust people, including employees, but when I choose, appropriately, to refrain from tipping, how do I know I'm getting the same quality of product that I should be able to expect anyway? And I simply shouldn't have to make an additional choice to not pay extra money while receiving nothing in return for it. Tipping is for cases where we receive something more than the product we choose at an advertised price, such as great tableside service. This greedy company is wrong and I will not be returning as...
