*ALERT: Do not order from here!! Rude, disrespectful, stereotyping owner Due to the current health pandemic, I wanted to support local small restaurant owners. I googled restaurants open near me and found one that was open with decent reviews; Café Amalfi. I placed a $68 online order though the app on their website for ‘pick-up’. When I picked up my food, I drive home and handing out food to people, noticed I was missing half of the order (I also should have checked before I left). When I drove back to the restaurant, the owner was rude and insinuated it was my fault they didn’t pack all the food together property. Strike one.
I also noticed two of the subs I ordered were prepared incorrectly, so when I had to go back to the resultant, I brought them with me to get corrected. This set off the owner into a mad rage; he told me that if I read the paper menu that was only available in their restaurant, I would understand that all bread is toasted and comes with lettuce and tomato. I showed the owner that on the app, it only indicated meat and cheese and there was an option for toasted sub. He started screaming at me and said ‘he can’t conform to everyone’s preferences and this is how he makes his subs’.
Even after showing the owner the app to order food didn’t indicate any of this information, he generalized the millennial generation and labeled us ‘spoiled and ungrateful’; then proceeded to tell me he doesn’t need my business and is thriving fine without it. I tried to explain I had never eaten at his establishment before and only had the information provided on the app on his website and was trying to support local small businesses by giving them my business.
After he continued to belittle and yell at me, I decided my kind gesture was for sure wasted on a location that didn’t appreciate new customers, I told him I wanted a refund for everything as this is not professional or customer service oriented. He refused to let me get a refund and said he already made the food so it’s my problem.
Moral of the story.. do not give this restaurant your business. Not only was the owner rude, but the food wasn’t...
Read moreI truly look for the hole in the wall restaurants because those are hit or miss. Sometimes you find a hidden gem! Not this one! I took my daughters to the beach today and thought we would stop bye and have a bite to eat before we headed back home. I would never go back here again.
I should’ve known when they first started serving us with plastic cups that this was going to be a quick in and out restaurant. I don’t know who they’re paying to give them these five star reviews, but they are not five stars. Not even close. Insult to injury is that they charged us for tapwater. THEY CHARGED US FOR THE PLASTIC CUPS THEY SERVED US TAP WATER IN. The garlic knots were cooked, but then tasted like they just took a scoop out of jarred garlic and threw it on top, it was still cool and the buns were warm - gross. The pizza tasted like greasy pizza you’d get out of a middle school lunch room. I’m not sure if it was a frozen pizza that they just shoved in the oven, but I have tasted better frozen pizzas. This one was disgusting. We told them that we were going to order two main dishes and share them. They brought us some ridiculously small plastic plates that you couldn’t even use for a child’s tea party and then some ridiculous 1980s pizza slice plates that they probably had since the 80s. It didn’t matter anyway because there wasn’t enough pasta alla vodka to share, it was a tiny portion That came with a salad that had definitely been sitting around for a while, you could tell that the tomatoes were old and mushy.
Would never return, and absolutely do not recommend this to anyone. It was also pretty weird that it felt like we were being stared at the entire time we ate. We initially wanted to sit in the front, but felt ushered to sit in the back and maybe it was because it was closer for them to bring us things? Or maybe it was because it was right next to the garbage can and they could just plop things in there when we were done (which they did) Not sure.
Pick another place if you’re...
Read moreThese reviews that rave about this restaurant must be added by friends and family. We were there at 8 pm and were the only patrons in the restaurant. A couple came in at 9 pm and the owner stated they closed at 8:30 pm. The hours listed on the door for Saturday night were 10 pm. We ordered pasta Fagioli, a medium filet with angle hair and Alfredo sauce, chicken Parmesan with fettuccine and marinara sauce, water with lemon, Diet Coke, and unsweet tea. I received sweet tea and asked for unsweet and the owner returned with a sweet tea again. I asked for unsweet and finally got it. Dinner arrived and the pasta fagioli was good, the filet came very rare with fettuccine and Alfredo sauce and the chicken Parmesan came with angel hair and marinara sauce (switched the pastas). The filet and chicken Parmesan with pastas were very small portions. When the owner placed the meals on the table he stated the cook must have switched the pastas around and did not offer to correct them. Receive the bill and the filet was priced at $29.99 I told the owner of the price mistake as the menu had a price of $24.99, he told me that could not be correct as he picked up a menu only to find the price at $24.99. He returned with a correct bill and stated that he gave me a $5.00 discount. I told him it couldn’t be a discount if his menu had a price of $24.99. He walked away and I noticed that he now had put the water on the new bill for $1.00. I decided that I did not want to ask about the $1.00 new charge from the original invoice, so I paid and we left to never return again. Terrible service, terrible portion sizes, and terrible pricing. Do yourself and family a favor, go to Carrabba’s just across...
