Want to waste half your Saturday and sit at an inefficient restaurant for a cheeseburger? Then Johnson’s is the place for you.
Never in my life have I witnessed and experienced such incompetence. It’s a burger restaurant. Serves only burgers. How does a small casual joint with two items on their menu (hot dogs and hamburgers) take 2 hours? Inefficient procedures and horrible service and ownership, is how.
Food is outstanding but not worth the headache of dealing with the horrible service, poor management and procedures. We waited for a table for 30 minutes (fine) only to be seated to wait another hour.
The owner is down right rude and does not value the business she receives. We sat there, unserved for an hour while she talked to locals at one table for the entire duration, and her two other employees attempted to keep the grill going, one burger at a time.
After 75 years of business, you would think they would have a cooking procedure down to get burgers (the item everyone orders) served quickly. Maybe they will figure it out in the next 75 years!
Save your Saturday and yourself the frustration, and...
Read moreI went here because I read it had some of the best burgers in NC. Well maybe in 1946 it did. My bread was stale and hard. The meat tasted okay. It was not horrible by any means. But it was just a notch above Burger King. If I would compare this to a place like Chuck's in Raleigh. Johnson's would not even be on the map. The service was also not very good. The waitress was nice but seemed to spend more time with her friends at the expense of waiting until we were done to get any attention. Oh and one more thing. They are cash only. I did not know this going in and did not see a sign on the door. Luckily I had some cash in the car. The person I went with absolutely hated it and would give this a one star review. She said it was one of the worst burgers she had in a long time. SO maybe they shined years ago as one of the best burger joints in the Carolina's' But I am afraid that ship has sailed into the sunset. The cook should spend a little more attention to detail and if the bread is stale. Toss it out and give your paying customer bread that will not...
Read moreI’ve been meaning to try this place for the last five years or so and today I decided to take the hour drive.
The place was packed, and there was a very long line of people waiting for to go orders, and to be seated. I quickly realized that placing a Togo order would be my fastest way to get these burgers.
My first observation was the staff was a very tight knit, bunch, working extremely hard, and had a very good system in place.
I ordered two cheese burgers with onions and mayonnaise a side of french fries and a Pepsi. I waited around 25 to 30 minutes for my food to be ready. While waiting I chatted with many friendly customers as we all shared a common interest of waiting anxiously for our burgers.
I took the burgers right to the parking lot and devoured them on the trunk of my car.
The taste was absolutely exceptional! Everything I heard about these burgers came true. Within my first bite I was in heaven. My hour drive and 30 minute wait for the food was now a thing of the past as I continued to devour these remarkable burgers.
I can’t wait...
