It's a carryout with tables. We came in January 2020 and the place was always cold because of the customer pick ups, and the comings and goings of the delivery staff. 2-3rds of the area is the narrow corridor. Even if there was good weather, it would be an uncomfortable and unsettling environment. Food is pretty good and formulaic of the cultural cuisine but sweetened to the typical American diabetic-indusive taste, which subtracts from any sense of authenticity. With the dinner so sweet, we had to skip dessert (and if you are diabetic, it'll be wise for you too). Even the plate of the hot food was cooled - nice for a salad, not for curry. The small dining area and constant carryout customers taking priority over the diners, kills the ambiance, so this is not where I'd go to for a date again. And with only 4 parking spaces in front, makes pick up difficult. Only my Shell Rewards brought me here.

I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times, all the best Thai restaurants in the DC area are in Virginia. Having said that, Charm Thai isn’t bad, but despite it’s a seemingly above average menu that at first glance got me excited for nothing we ordered “wowed’ me. I had the standard go-to Thai basil chicken with a fried egg over the rice. My partner ordered his go-to, which is a crab fried rice (or some variation thereof), and we shared a papaya salad. Overall, it was fine but nothing was good enough that I would want to go back twice. Having said that, if you are craving some Thai food that is slightly better than your average Thai food that is designed for the “American palate” then do give Charm Thai a try. I do feel bad for the restaurant though, due to the construction on the street in front of It, I think business is down so I did want to support the restaurant. Give it a try!

Make sure if you order from Charm Thai you put extra spicy, because now they just assume nobody likes spice when it's a Thai place? Just make authentic food stop over thinking it.... There is not a lick of spice on here and I can't use the chili oil because it's cold in the fridge.( I shouldn't have to anyway) so I have to use cayenne pepper to add some type of heat to this right now, I'm very saddened. Hadn't had it for months maybe even since last year (God had my back lol), but I've been eating here for at least 10 years now it's too expensive for this; won't get it again.

If hunger hits and you have a chance to check out Charm Thai, the odds will favor a pleased outcome. With a selection of appetizers and entrees likely to satisfy most Thai seekers, you’ll also raise a happy eyebrow at how much more reasonably priced the choices are compared to the many Thai spots within a few blocks of it.

The sounds of a busy and well-run kitchen might sneak around the corner to the seating area, but it was music to my ears. The various plates I caught sight of as they were brought to the tables were lovely, and what we had a chance to sample was delicious. Orders were brought speedily but without compromising quality, and our table’s suspension of conversation made it pretty obvious how much we liked our food.

Theirs is a booming take-out business which, as we all know, manages to infect the perspectives of some reviewers with complicating factors of transport and delivery. People clearly love this restaurant, given how steady was the stream of GrugHub and other app-driven food-delivery folks coming in, followed by a ton of to-go customers. Huge takeoutbags of delicious Thai are getting ported all over the city and people can’t seem to get enough.

However, when one is inclined to enjoy the modest storefront seating, with decor that’s modern and spirited, and a fun lighted canopy over the tables, and the ever-ready assistance from front of house folks, where the delicious food takes center stage and still remains reasonably priced, well: you just might rate this restaurant as highly as I...

I ordered veggie Kai soi soup among other things over Uber eats. I have ordered and dined in before and I have never had any problems. When the order arrived it had shrimp and chicken. I politely called and explained to them that I am a vegan and I do not eat meat. I asked for a new order to be delivered. The lady on the phone took 15min to understand and indicated that she will call back to confirm if they are even able fulfill my request. I agreed and waited. When I didn't hear from the woman after 20mins, I called to inquire about my order. She lied (yes, lied, because I was by my phone the entire time) and said she called me back. She then took my address and and then the order over again and had the audacity to say that the order will take 45 to 1hr. Not to mention I a live less that 4min away from the restaurant. ALSO, she say to me that i have to put the food that was delivered back into the container and return it back to them. By this point I am extremely irritated therefore I tell her never mind, I would like a refund and she proceeded to tell me that I need to call Uber eats to get my refund (which I understood). Then I ask for a manager and the woman continuously reiterated that I need to call Uber eats for a refund. I continuously explained that I understood but I still wanted to speak to some type of management. She refused to put management on the phone and eventually told me to call Thursday to speak with someone name Nom. VERY...

Overall experience was average thus the rating of 3 out of 5 stars. Walking in the staff was very attentive. The place seems to have a nice atmosphere but my impression is that the bathroom came across as greasy and started to notice the worn tables and extremely dirty concrete floor with pieces of food everywhere. Arrived at 5pm which meant I was receiving a dinner price which was $2 more for many items. Ordered the pad thai which arrived very quickly but rice was an additional in cost too. This seems like a staple for any Asian meal. Was not asked for a thai spicy level but was given spice condiments to add to meal. Overall was not asked for spicy level and felt very expensive for the amount of food provided. Actually felt a little offended regarding when asking if I could get a side of rice and told that costs extra. Their business model with all the window stickers and even sign on the street was for delivery. Environment felt very confining with the wall between the kitchen and the front half of the dining area. This place is in need of a makeover and prices to compete with the numerous thai places...
