AVOID THIS RESTAURANT: MISTREATMENT OF THE ELDERLY AND INCOMPETENT BEHAVIOR.

The service was incompetent and engaged in discrimination against the elderly. Yesterday, I ordered spaghetti with meatsauce on behalf of my household where my 95 year old grandfather and my near-70 year old aunt reside. I was working and unavailable so I expected, as usual, that the delivery would come to my elderly relatives at their door. When the driver called me saying she had arrived, I told her to come upstairs to the apartment by taking the elevators. I also reminded her that the building in which I live, the desk/concierge always allows people up to make a quick delivery. She then said someone (who I later learned was a new college student) stopped her and I told her to ignore whatever he said (as the desk/concierge was not following normal protocol at that moment) and come upstairs; the delivery lady then said it would be no problem. I noticed I had not heard back after sometime and then called her back and then learned that she refused to come up. I gave her the instructions on how to come up and she did not want to comply. I then called her manager and he was absolutely incompetent and childish when I spoke to him on the phone. He kept claiming that the desk would not let his driver upstairs and I told him that the individual at the desk in my building is not following what the desk/concierge usually do/allow and that it was perfectly fine for the driver to come up. I also mentioned that I spoke with my many individuals who work in the building about this issue many times since we have elderly individuals living with me and that it was okay for her to come upstairs. He kept asking me what I wanted the driver to do, to which I replied that she should simply walk to elevators and go upstairs to the apartment. I then found out that my aunt, who has some disabilities, had to go downstairs and the driver refused to hand the food to her. The driver then left the building, as my aunt told me, and she never received any food. Absolutely a case of incompetence and poor treatment of a household with elderly people. The manager should be fired. DO NOT...

The waiter was a pleasant young man who did not seem that he was not that experiene d. However he tried. When the bread was brought out, it was luke, luke wam and hard. The crust was so hard, it could not be broken without force. The circular part of the bread was a bit softer, but not like garlic bread.

The waiter brought us more bread and it was better. He explained the daily made bread, etc. The ordered dishes came. I had an egg noodle with ground veal and tomato sauce with a little cream. It was tasteless. There was a glimpse of tomato sauce and more cream. But it was not spicy. The garlic bread had red pepper on it. I took a salad that came with the meal, and thought I would be safe. But then a burning sensation came. When mentioning it to the waiter, he says -"Oh there must have been a jalapeno pepper hiding in the salad greens. Ha, ha" This salad was turned back and of course waste occurred.

While eating, a very large serving, my guess said " look!" It was a baby roach crawling on the table. It scampered like roaches do, but we got it. Telling the waiter, he simply responded "do you want desert". He was told - we are leaving. He brought the bill with no apology, and we paid

We should have walked out with no bill, but we ended up with a 27.00 bill and a terrible evening. I would never go back, and I surely don't recommend entering the front door for there may be free roaming roaches in the kitchen, unsupervised, untrained, and allowed to run as an...

We dined in for the first time at Mama Lucia's last night. (Have had carryout before). The host was immediately welcoming and funny. We were seated where we wanted to, and were immediately welcomed by both the water and bread server and our waitress. Having read that the servings were large, we split 2 entrees and they accommodated us with that - extra plates. The waitress Clara was very knowledgeable and patient with our indecisiveness of what to order - gave us time to choose. We ate the spaghetti squash with Marinara - very tasty. We also ordered the seafood asparagus pasta - loved it, a little pricey but worth it. Plenty of seafood in it and served piping hot. Drinks were brought very quickly. The manager checked in with us once. Our waitress was bilingual (Spanish/English) which was an asset for a family nearby and for her water server helping out. Our waitress Clara checked in with us periodically, but not too much. I want to compliment how naturally friendly and helpful Clara was throughout our dining experience. Unfortunately she only works there 3 days a week. They could use her more. The restaurant was clean both at the tables and bathroom. Upon leaving the host and pizza servers made a point of saying goodbye. I would recommend being served by Clara and you will like the big menu selection. Sadly no room...

Dear potential patrons of Mama Lucia's, I am Cortni, a regular customer here. I am writing this review to share a deeply distressing incident that speaks volumes about the respect this establishment has for its customers' identities. Despite being assured that my name would be updated in their records to reflect my transgender identity, my subsequent order was sent under my previous name. This might seem like a minor oversight to some, but to me and the larger transgender community, it's a painful dismissal of our identities. We are living in an era where acceptance and respect for individual identities are not optional but a fundamental human right. The actions of Mama Lucia's staff were a direct violation of this principle and have caused me immense distress. I implore Mama Lucia's to address this issue promptly. Sensitivity training for all staff members, particularly focusing on respect and understanding for all customers and especially those from the LGBTQ+ community, should be mandatory. This is not a matter to be brushed away with a 'my bad, gotcha next time' type consolation but a SERIOUS issue that needs immediate attention. Respect is a small act that can make a world of difference to someone's day, and I hope Mama Lucia's patrons take this into consideration before placing their next order. Thank you.

Don't let this restaurant fool you from the outside. It's at the end of a shopping mall. As soon as you walk in you start to realize you are at the happiest place in Silver Springs. I was greeted right away by an energetic young gentleman (wish I got his name). I let him know I was just visiting town and he gave me some ideas for dinner. He had the kitchen start making my dinner before I even sat down. My table server was quick and very kind. He got my Pepsi and water as soon as I sat down. Then out came the Cesar salad and garlic toast. Every piece of lettuce was crisp, no wilting or brown pieces. The toast was delicious and the side of parmesan oil mixture was perfect. Now the best part the actual dinner. I had the Pasta Brunello which was fantastic. The vodka sauce was delicious, the mushroom were not over cooked, the chicken was a little dry but the sauce more than made up for it. The bowl came out super quick and was very hot to start. The portion was more than I could eat in a single sitting, and that's saying something. If your still reading this review, just go and eat, you won't regret it.

I enjoyed eating at Mamma Lucia in Silver Spring! I went with a few friends for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Luis was our waiter and he was awesome and very friendly. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, and it was huge!! The portion size was amazing, and I definitely had to take a to go box to eat it for two more meals at home. My friends got the carbonara and a pizza with alfredo sauce. The ambiance was nice and casual, nothing too fancy. I thought it was a little pricey for the casual atmosphere, but I didn't mind it because I enjoyed the food, and the service was great. I recommend you give it a try if you're ever in the Silver Spring area and want to sit down at a casual Italian restaurant to have some pasta or pizza. I will definitely be back. Thank you, Luis and everyone else at Mamma Lucia Silver Spring!
