AVOID THIS RESTAURANT: MISTREATMENT OF THE ELDERLY AND INCOMPETENT BEHAVIOR.
The service was incompetent and engaged in discrimination against the elderly. Yesterday, I ordered spaghetti with meatsauce on behalf of my household where my 95 year old grandfather and my near-70 year old aunt reside. I was working and unavailable so I expected, as usual, that the delivery would come to my elderly relatives at their door. When the driver called me saying she had arrived, I told her to come upstairs to the apartment by taking the elevators. I also reminded her that the building in which I live, the desk/concierge always allows people up to make a quick delivery. She then said someone (who I later learned was a new college student) stopped her and I told her to ignore whatever he said (as the desk/concierge was not following normal protocol at that moment) and come upstairs; the delivery lady then said it would be no problem. I noticed I had not heard back after sometime and then called her back and then learned that she refused to come up. I gave her the instructions on how to come up and she did not want to comply. I then called her manager and he was absolutely incompetent and childish when I spoke to him on the phone. He kept claiming that the desk would not let his driver upstairs and I told him that the individual at the desk in my building is not following what the desk/concierge usually do/allow and that it was perfectly fine for the driver to come up. I also mentioned that I spoke with my many individuals who work in the building about this issue many times since we have elderly individuals living with me and that it was okay for her to come upstairs. He kept asking me what I wanted the driver to do, to which I replied that she should simply walk to elevators and go upstairs to the apartment. I then found out that my aunt, who has some disabilities, had to go downstairs and the driver refused to hand the food to her. The driver then left the building, as my aunt told me, and she never received any food. Absolutely a case of incompetence and poor treatment of a household with elderly people. The manager should be fired. DO NOT...
Read moreThe waiter was a pleasant young man who did not seem that he was not that experiene d. However he tried. When the bread was brought out, it was luke, luke wam and hard. The crust was so hard, it could not be broken without force. The circular part of the bread was a bit softer, but not like garlic bread.
The waiter brought us more bread and it was better. He explained the daily made bread, etc. The ordered dishes came. I had an egg noodle with ground veal and tomato sauce with a little cream. It was tasteless. There was a glimpse of tomato sauce and more cream. But it was not spicy. The garlic bread had red pepper on it. I took a salad that came with the meal, and thought I would be safe. But then a burning sensation came. When mentioning it to the waiter, he says -"Oh there must have been a jalapeno pepper hiding in the salad greens. Ha, ha" This salad was turned back and of course waste occurred.
While eating, a very large serving, my guess said " look!" It was a baby roach crawling on the table. It scampered like roaches do, but we got it. Telling the waiter, he simply responded "do you want desert". He was told - we are leaving. He brought the bill with no apology, and we paid
We should have walked out with no bill, but we ended up with a 27.00 bill and a terrible evening. I would never go back, and I surely don't recommend entering the front door for there may be free roaming roaches in the kitchen, unsupervised, untrained, and allowed to run as an...
Read moreWe dined in for the first time at Mama Lucia's last night. (Have had carryout before). The host was immediately welcoming and funny. We were seated where we wanted to, and were immediately welcomed by both the water and bread server and our waitress. Having read that the servings were large, we split 2 entrees and they accommodated us with that - extra plates. The waitress Clara was very knowledgeable and patient with our indecisiveness of what to order - gave us time to choose. We ate the spaghetti squash with Marinara - very tasty. We also ordered the seafood asparagus pasta - loved it, a little pricey but worth it. Plenty of seafood in it and served piping hot. Drinks were brought very quickly. The manager checked in with us once. Our waitress was bilingual (Spanish/English) which was an asset for a family nearby and for her water server helping out. Our waitress Clara checked in with us periodically, but not too much. I want to compliment how naturally friendly and helpful Clara was throughout our dining experience. Unfortunately she only works there 3 days a week. They could use her more. The restaurant was clean both at the tables and bathroom. Upon leaving the host and pizza servers made a point of saying goodbye. I would recommend being served by Clara and you will like the big menu selection. Sadly no room...
