How many times have I driven by this little shopping area and never knew that Family Thai even existed? Thousands of times! After hearing from a few acquaintances on how good their food is; I was extremely excited to try it, after all, I had great luck with another local Thai restaurant I have recently dined at, so count me in. The Family Thai restaurant is a casual, bright, happy, charming little restaurant with servers that are just as delightful as the restaurant is cute. I showed up about 11:10 am and by the time I left at 11:45 am Family Thai was half full, mind you, it isn't a large establishment, none the less, a lot of customers coming in is an incentive for newcomers to try something out. It doesn't mean a restaurant is excellent, but visually it does help bring people coming in. And in this case, I overheard that some of the patrons are returning customers. Ok, now on to the food. Great menu and decent prices. I love the fact that they offer a lunch menu with several yummy sounding items to choose from. My server Thiti took my drink order and gave me a few minutes to look over the menu; after pondering, I decided to order Phad Thia with pork, (it was a tough decision) it came with a scoop of white jasmine rice and a cup of soup. I won't say much about the soup because I failed to understand the name of it, but it was brothy with small pieces of chopped vegetables and overall delicious. My Pad Thai was savory, flavorful and a generous helping at that. Again I love the fact that peanuts were a background taste and not the main event. My server Thiti was cheery, friendly, inviting and overall delightful. The restaurant is clean and visually refreshing — the ladies room, also clean with no obnoxious odors. The parking lot is shared with several other businesses, if ever in need of more parking space, right across the street; within walking distance is a much larger parking area that is adjacent to VCA Animal Hospital, Tessios, and Tractor Supply Company. Overall if you haven't tried Family Thai Restaurant, definitely put it on your list of places to try.
*Adding to my review- 4/19/2019 Today I decided this evening to do two take out lunches, Ginger Chicken that came with Phad Thai and Jasmine Rice (soup is in house only) and Beef Keemoa Noodles with Jasmine Rice -both dishes, full of exuberant flavor, with a spice number of three, just a tiny little bite nothing to make your eyes water. Both dishes where full of vegetables and plenty of meat for the taking and left overs to share with mom! And if I haven't mentioned before, the servers are accommodating, out going and very...
Read moreBeen eating here for years. This is a family owned restaurant and the family is very friendly. I've never once had them mess up my order, I always get exactly what I ordered and it's consistent and delicious. The only thing I wish they'd do is, if you remove veggies, add more meat to make up for it ... places don't seem to do this, they are willing to remove items from the meal (which would change the cost if you were adding) but they won't substitute even though the substitution may be cheaper than the thing you are asking them to remove; you have to pay for the substitution. Still love this place though, I've tried a bunch of the thai places in the area and none compare.
While I love this place, their price are steep; $15.99 for curry at lunch. With the amount I spend here to have them make it; I can make it at home and save a ton of money, have a lot left over and still have money for dessert.
Their menu is stuck on the dinner prices; so it's like they got rid of their lunch menu so they could have the higher dinner prices (its Saturday at noon, certainly not dinner time, and ordering in the future, the lunch option has been removed).
If they had better prices, I would eat here more often. But their prices are so steep that I only visit here once in a great while when I'm starving and I simply don't feel like going through the work of making this myself. I was considering eating here today but their prices turned me off because I'm serving 3 and it its over $50 for lunch.
I dropped them from a 5 star to a 3 star because of the price hikes/changes since I last visited; dunno if they did that on purpose but it certainly turned me off from placing an order; so, I made lunch myself, but it...
Read moreMy husband and I went here for the first time on Saturday night and LOVED it! The atmosphere was charming and the food and service were fantastic. Don't know what you want to get? Just ask her server Thelma and she'll be happy to offer recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the staff and felt like family by the time we left. While I imagine everything is good, we thoroughly enjoyed and can highly recommend the Prawn Rolls (appetizer, 5 yummy pieces)! We got specials - BBQ Beef and Garlic Asparagus - and both were fantastic! And for dessert, we enjoyed the subtly sweet and light Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango. The menu was extensive and even as a vegetarian I felt like I had a vast number of items to choose from since you have flexibility in selecting your protein with almost every meal (typically beef, chicken, pork, seafood, tofu or veggies). I could likely eat here every day for a month and still be eager to try something new. I'm glad we got away from our regular eateries and tried Family Thai! It was absolutely delicious and will now be added to our list of regular restaurants we visit. In fact, if I had to narrow down my selection of favorites in Central Kitsap, Family Thai would make the Top 5! Give it a try; you'll love it. P.S. They also offer ordering online and to...
