This place is fantastic! Great beers, fantastic staff, beautiful building though it is a bit cavernous, and take a look at the gorgeous ceiling. Its one of the best ceilings I've seen in a place. The fire pit is great, open air atmosphere is great, patio is great.
I have been to bars, pubs, microbreweries, etc all around the country and this is one of my favorites. I would give it 4.5 stars because I think the owner should have used his limited space more effectively but everything else is super on point and appropriate to the locale.
Detailed rating:
Beer: 4/5
The beers span a great range of ABV and flavor profiles. I have tried them all and cannot muster a complaint or criticism save for this: the IPAs could use a little more of a citrus backbone if not also a few more IBUs.
As an IPA fan I am more than satisfied by the three they have on tap, and you get what you expect at this place. The beers are all smooth and light on the palate and there is nothing on the menu I could imagine ever being sent back.
Location: 4/5
Close to some other places to eat and drink, close to the bus station, nice views but nothing too special, comfortable if a bit close to some residential properties.
Silverthorne does not have a more natural place to place bars and restaurants of this type, so I hope that in ten years this area will become a more focused bar area where people can go for the evening and frequent a few places.
Staff: 5/5
The bartenders are very friendly, knowledgeable about the beers, and accommodating. They stay busy and serve the outside when they can, they help you if you need it but don't push particular products. This is a damned good crew. +1 for Greg being a good dude.
Services: 4/5
The food situation could be better for sure, and if they partnered in some way with local restaurants to get a delivery thing going that would be smart.
Hours of operation are not good at all. In my opinion a bar should stay open on Friday and Saturday till at least midnight.
There could and should be poker games here, Game nights, trivia nights, karaoke and more live music!
Space/ambiance: 3/5 +1
Great building but lacking in character and in efficient use of space. Should have smaller bathrooms, no video game, booths or something instead of giant bench, and a loft with balcony that would be especially useful when there was a band. At a minimum they need some sound damping tiles to help with the echos.
+1 Best ceiling I have ever seen. Seriously, look up! It's like some crazy awesome flooring but glued to the roof. It is glorious. Whoever made that call deserves...
Read moreAwesome beers and atmosphere! Our group of 8 college friends visiting from San Francisco and Boston just finished a week in Breckenridge and visited all the breweries and ski areas that Summit County has to offer beer lover’s. There are some awesome places making great beers and food, a few decent spots and one that fails in all areas compared to the others. We all had different opinions, but the top ones were undisputable as was the loser. Angry James has the best beers hands down followed closely by Highside and Outer Range. Not too far behind were Bakers’, Broken Compass, Dillon Dam and Breckenridge. We thought Pug Ryan’s beers were generic and out dated at best. As for eats, Highside and Bakers’ were our unanimous favorites. Angry James has limited offerings, but they were delicious as well. Breckenridge, Dillon Dam both have some good stuff to eat but for the most part their menus were like most breweries and very creative. We didn’t eat at Outer Range or Broken Compass as they don’t have in house food, but you can bring your own grub with you. Outer Range is next door to a Mexican place and shares their parking lot with Whole Foods. They both have guest food trucks as well. Pug Ryan’s was overly disappointing on all fronts, you’re better off grabbing a six pack of Coors and a Subway sandwich then wasting your money at that place. Hope this is helpful for all you brewery...
Read moreReally wanted to try this place, both the beer and the unique food. I have PTSD. And a PTSD service dog. I understand that places have rules, and that they need to ensure that Service Dogs are legitimate. However, a little tact would be nice, since many of us have problems with social interaction. Instead, the bartender, a male, rudely called me out in front of the entire room and made me start listing the tasks my dog does for me in front of the entire room. Every single person was staring at me, and after I started naming a few, he dismissed me, and then I overheard him complaining about how "it's the only question I'm legally allowed to ask." at which point I walked to a corner table and sat down bc I didn't want to hear what else he had to say about me. But by that point, I was utterly humiliated, scared, and just wanted to leave before my anxiety got too high. We relocated to the Dam and they welcomed us with open arms. The bartender at Angry James could've waited until I sat down and had a private convo with me, like pretty much every other establishment I've ever brought my service dog to, but he chose to humiliate me instead. I will not be giving that place a...
