I have never given a poor review but it would be a crime not to in this case. I flew into Colorado from Pennsylvania and was booked at the hotel right next to this pizza place. So I walked over to get a pizza. The man behind the counter was super friendly and very fast making my order.
I ordered the "steak gorgonzola" which is a "specialty pizza" in the hopes of getting something different. It was definitely different. The whole thing is currently in the hotel trash. Everything that could be wrong with a pizza was wrong with this pizza. On top of that my bill came to $50! $50 for an inedible pizza. What a shame. Im literally flying back to Pennsylvania with a bad taste in my mouth.
Update in response to the owner.
-I didn't speak to the cook because I ordered at 650, got the pizza at a little after 7pm. By the time I walked back to the hotel, tasted it, and ordered something else the place was closed. as for price. The steak and arugula is part of the recipe so why the upcharge? I was charged a "delivery" for something I picked up. The tip was given when I ordered with payment. The pizza was far from 5lb. Very thin. It didnt even droop from the weight of the toppings when held by the edge. Stiff as a board.
Sure prices are inflated in summit county but $35 subtotal on a 18" is high by any standard. Not to mention adding an upcharge to a "specialty pizza" that is made with those ingredients. Sure all pizza places charge for toppings but I've never scene one charge extra for the listed ingredients of a pizza recipe.
The owner asks why they are being bothered by bad reviews? Probably because your product sucks. I dont even blame the cook. Something that terrible is a management issue. The attitude of the owned...
Read moreMy comments here are only regarding their pizza. It has gotten better since they opened, but their dough is still just not very good. It's very bread-y, which in my experience means it needs to be kneaded longer, or gluten added either manually or by using a high gluten flour. And then proofing may need to be adjusted once those changes are made. I am no expert, and not a great dough troubleshooter, I just know that if I made that dough I would be working to fix it because it's not great. It ends up having a Sysco pre-baked pizza shell quality, which is not a good thing.
You can just look at the photos of their pizza here and in the reviews. It's just not right. I would recommend grabbing a frozen pizza dough ball from whole foods, making a pie or two with that dough, and set that as the North Star. Also, a lot of the mass produced frozen doughs that you can get from suppliers are pretty good, you just have to defrost them properly.
Toppings and ingredients are consistently great.
I want this place to be so good, it's so convenient and the pizza place it replaced was so great. But it's just...
Read moreWent here a few days ago with a friend who has specific dietary restrictions. We ordered a fettuccine Alfredo with no meat due to our guest being vegetarian. We confirmed the order with our cashier who was very friendly. When our food came up we went to pick it up, and noticed it had chicken on it. I went back to the cashier who whispered to “ Chef daddy” that there was chicken on the dish. Chef daddy then picked the chicken off the dish and stated it would be fine if we just took it off. Unfortunately it was not fine as our friend was highly vegetarian for religious reason during this time. Chef daddy then threw the bowl of food down and said he would waste it and make a new one. After about 12 minutes and numerous glances in our direction by both staff members our food came out. Chef daddy said enjoy food in a passive way toward us. We then witnessed the cashier eat our old food in the kitchen behind the door. Overall the experience was lack luster and highly un professional. Hopefully we can return in the future and have a...
