The ONLY "bar" I go to here in my hometown of Simpsonville, for sure, and also in the Upstate (Greater Greenville Area) of SC. Yes, it is owned by my aunt Gina, and I do love getting to see her and other family and friends while I'm there, but my opinion of GGz isn't biased. GGz is a great place to go if you enjoy good people/food & drinks, music, karaoke & fun! It's a bit like a "Cheers" setting, where pretty much everyone knows everyone, and if you're new, you won't FEEL like it for long! Always have GREAT food. My favorites are the wings & loaded cheese fries - A decent bit of the food (even the wing sauce) is made using old (and new) southern family recipes, that I've been blessed to have been eating since I was a kid, and still LOVE today.
The house drinks are delish! They even have special GGz ONLY creations 😍 Prices for food and drinks are VERY reasonable ("cheap, even, if you will) Happy Hour makes those low prices even lower! And no, I don't get free or discounted because I'm family! The owner works pretty often and the bartenders & other staff are very fun & will make you feel welcomed & even when they're SLAMMED BUSY, still give reasonable and even (compared to other places) fast & friendly Service... Should make you feel like you're right at home.
Check out GGz Facebook page for details on specials, live music, karaoke, free pool and more! I've never felt unsafe at GGz & the"crowd", while diverse in ages, race, etc., tends to be "regulars", who are just there to RELAX, have some adult beverages, socialize with old and new friends, enjoy a game of pool or darts, dance, enjoy the music (live, DJ or "jukebox") and many patrons even love to sing karaoke!
Go on down to GGz and, as my late Aunt Gail - & (former 2nd) owner (R.I.P. you'll ALWAYS be loved & missed), used to say, "HAVE FUNNER THAN...."! 😁😄💙💙💙
You'll soon find your new neighborhood & family owned & operated "bar", that you will WANT to return to time & time again. Trust me, you'll be coming there (almost) exclusively after only...
Read moreI’m absolutely disgusted with this place. I worked a 10 hour wedding on a SATURDAY. I was their out of state wedding photographer from Texas and all I wanted to do when I got off was go to the local bar and have a drink or two to blow off steam after the longest 10 hour day I’ve had. We drove 20 minutes across town to visit this place only to be told as soon as we walked in and sat down that it was a private bar and we were not allowed to purchase drinks. Idgaf, to not not have this written across ANY type of advertisement is absolutely RUDE and ridiculous when telling anyone it’s a PRIVATE bar. Funny, after the wedding I rushed to the hotel to shower and we had a quick dinner and I told my husband I looked ROUGH but it shouldn’t matter. After we wanted to blow off some steam after a LONG day ONLY to be told it was a “private” bar and that it would take 24hours to be approved. I tip 30-40% so your “baby-sitters” missed out. I don’t need a ridiculous reply because no matter what you say this is absolutely ridiculous and honestly SHERBY’S PUB is the place to go because they will not deny you and they will treat you great! 😊...
Read moreFirst of all, I absolutely loved coming into this bar. Great people, awesome vibe, feels like home and a small family when you walk through those doors. I spent many of my days here, and spent lots of my money making sure my bartenders had amazing tips for great service. The problem came when drama started coming in between me and the rest of the bar due to two specific bar regulars. Mind you, I never brought my personal life into this bar. When I came here it was my me time to free myself of the work week, and have an awesome time! I believe it was very unprofessional of the bartenders and the owner to ban me from this bar Due to my personal issues with two members. I have never caused any of the NUMEROUS scenes that have happened in this bar. Never. I have always treated everyone with the utmost respect. I really miss my home away from home bar, but life happens. My advice to you is to be careful and make sure to not get too close to any of the regulars here. You never know who’s just a snake...
